Comment:

Took his math course and learned a lot as he breaks down math problems and makes it easier to understand. Before a test, he provides sample problems so you know what to expect. He was always available after class and answered all questions. Truly a great and caring professor.

Comment:

I took Dr. Ravitch for PreCalc with Trig. The format of the class was not typical. However, now that I'm in Calc 2, I can say that he made sure I knew what I needed to know. He is very caring and wants students to succeed. He's a fair grader. In one case, most of the class failed a test. He rewrote it and everyone retook it doing much better.

I took this class because of the good ratings, however, he decided to switch things up recently because his course was not easy at all. My friends would write the same answers as myself and we would all get different grades. Extremely confusing and will tell you about being able to redo exams but will not actually allow you to do so when needed.

Written test every two weeks. These are very easy, as there are not very many questions .You are allowed a page of notes during the test, but if you pay attention in class, you do not need to rely on this.

Dr. Ravitch is the reason I am a philosophy major. He makes it exciting and thought provoking. He is so knowledgeable. I always looked forward to his class. Loved his storytelling. Exceptional. Will take again!

Prof. Ravitch is amazing. I took him for Philosophy 001 and now i am taking him again for Philosophy 12. You don't really have to go to class to know whats going on because he gives the test questions with notes a week before the test! He is also very nice and caring, just be on his good side ! AMAZING class. This teacher is so nice and helpful. He gives the test questions before the test and you can use your notes on the test. Doesn't expect you to go to class but why not. He is so kind. You don't need a textbook

Honestly he's such a great professor. A very kind hearted man in general. He's very clear on what he grades and his tests are not even a slight bit hard. He tells you what questions are going to be ahead of time so you can look into it. Very intelligent. I wish he taught other subjects! loved his class.

Such a kind hearted professor. Take his class, but here's some tips for his tests. Write down almost exactly what he writes down, also Google some answers or quotes would be good. Make sure you write CLEARLY, LEGIBLY AND NOT LITTLE. Have a good amount to write, the more you write, the better the grade.

THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! He makes his class very easy, and not boring. Makes you enjoy such a boring subject, and has fun with it. He's also very nice and flexible with his exams. You miss one, you can make it up during the final. I highly recommend him. He is great!

Curriculum made this class the best one I took at LAVC. Harold tends to ramble on and I fell asleep a couple times. He's a very learned man, and his khaki dickies and oxford shirts are just the living end.
