Comment:
I have had Heather for multiple classes while at GV, this course was by the far the best. Actually enjoyed coming to Heathers lectures, she does a great job of explaining the material in a simple way that doesn't make you want to rip your hair out. She is friendly and is more than willing to meet with you if you need additional support.

If you show up to class you will be respected. Only had her for pollution but had NO complaints. She will help you out of class, appreciates humor during lecture, and creates exams based on student made questions. If you get a grade you don't like in this class it is probably your own fault. Her favorite guest speaker is Brad Neuman.

I Actually think the Professor Rueth was a pretty good professor. A lot of assignments were required but they often helped me understand the material. Exams were not that hard as long as you study they are pretty straight forward, just a lot of memorization.

I actually think that "the Rueth" has gotten a bit better over the years. This class wasn't that awful. Still grades a bit tough. Labs were actually interesting in my opinion.

The class has no direction or organization. Attempting to write a paper that will earn a good grade is futile. The tests are impossible because not all of the material on the tests is covered in class. The time and effort put into this class is not reflected in your grade.

Acts uncomfortable as a teacher.lectures poorly taught/unclear-doesn't communicate well w/students, has difficulty maintaining order&direction-Tests detailed w/vague instructions impossible to pass even when open note. Assigns hw but doesn't give directions then penalizes class for doing it wrong-Labs usually directionless little to no guidance

stay away from her, test's are really hard...she tries to cover the whole book. Can't take notes during lecture cause she skims through slides. class average on first exam were 60's, second were around 72's...Two word...stay away....!!

Stay away from this class! Prof Rueth may be one of the worst that I have ever had. Nearly impossible to receive a good grade. For the duration of the class, more than 50% of the students were failing.

Rueth sucks. She wasn't extremely knowledgeable on the subject, and her test questions are terrible. She writes tests with nearly opinions for answers, and with such a clear cut subject that shouldn't be. Her teaching style is dull, and she's an overall terrible person. Get this class with someone else if you can; I couldn't...

Hard exams, stupid assignments. Two-hour lecture with no breaks or visual aides or group work to break it up. If group work did happen, it was a ridiculous assignment. Three projects a semester, basically the same project, just in more depth each time, ridiculous. BORING lecture and not helpful if people needed clarity of assignments or material.

She repeats things 3 times that could be stated once and then left alone. Teaching style will make you struggle to keep you're eyes from colliding with the desk. Didn't seem to always know the material. Questions about due dates and requirements usually resulted in a referral to your syllabus. She can be very curt with you.

Attended class, read the book, took good notes, understood the material, but still had a C in the class. Not very helpful & doesn't belong in the classroom. She's probably a lot more useful in the field. Hard exams, stupid assignments.

Very strict attendance requirements, she HATES it when you come late to class. Her lecturing style can be annoying, but seemed clear enough to me. Not the most helpful to students who aren't getting the material the first time around.

with no visual aides throughout the entire semester, it was easy to grow resentment for this class/professor. this professor often disagreed with the book and had her own answers to questions, yet she never proved scientifically they were even correct. She belongs in the field not in the classroom.

I don't think she is as bad as everyone says. I learned a ton about soils and am actually interested in soils after taking this class. Her tests are not that difficult but her grading is ridiculous at times. However she did give everyone extra points on an exam and she admitted that she was wrong.
