Comment:

The best math professor I've ever had! Doesn't follow a textbook and no dependence on mymathlab to assess student progress. He has the nice, old school way of teaching. His grading isn't too damaging either. He will not mark the entire question wrong for small arithmetic mistakes. He's also nice to converse with and quite inspirational.

Comment:

Dr. Boler is an amazing teacher! He is very passionate about math! He will always take time to help one student step by step each problem if needed. Never talked down to students, but always praised them. Before his class I had a hate for math. Now that Ive taken his class, I would consider math fun and perhaps even take another class for fun.

Comment:

I will take Boler for as many classses as possible. If I ever needed help I would just ask in class and he would stop everything to make sure I understood. He was very reasonable and wants all of his students to feel like if they try hard enough, they can all be successful.

I did not like the way he taught. I took him for 3 courses only because he was the only professor offering that course. His tests are never more than 10 questions. If you are advanced in math, these classes will be super boring.

Literally the best professors you can hope for. Everything is explained well and the tests are extremely simple. He doesn't try to trick you. If you understand how to plug in the number you'll pass; if you don't, then ask him and he'll help! Easy A

If you struggle in Mathematics, youll learn and excel under professor Boler. He was a lifesaver for me. Hes a kind gentleman and is a caring person. You owe it to yourself to try him. I went through Math 0312, 1314, 2412, 2413 under Boler and loved it.

Comment:

Ive rated him before for Pre-Cal and I still stand by my statement when I say hes great. Very good for visual learners and he honestly is a fairly easy grader. I had to skip a few times because I took Cal alongside chemistry and that was tough. Had I not skipped when I did, I wouldve easily made an A.

Very good teacher. Pretty funny at times, but can be boring at times. Pay attention and do your best and you will do great.

Literally the nicest professor I've ever had. He went by fast during our lesson but he always answered questions and made sure we understood the material before continuing. Easiest grader. I'm the absolute worst at math AND I skipped a lot during the semester and I STILL made an A. EASIEST. CLASS. EVER.

If you are not a good visual learner I advise not to take his class. He is a good teacher but gets side tracked during lectures. His test are really easy and he changes your lowest test grade to your highest test grade. He doesn't like when people walk in late and he can sometimes be sarcastic but overall he is pretty laid back.

If you are not a very good visual learner I wouldn't recommend his class. Other than that he is a really good teacher but come in with lots of coffee because you will get sleepy. His tests are really easy and he will bump up your grade at the end of the course if he believes you did your best.

I have only had 1 math teacher my whole life who I actually learned anything from prior to taking his class. I heard many negative things about boler but I don't believe any of them are true. I was worried about taking a class from him then it turned out how easy his class really is. Im taking minis from him and will try to take any class he offers

Dr Boler covers a great amount of material in Precalculus with proofs at least once a week. I would recommend this professor.

like others have said, AWFUL teacher, however, his tests are insanely easy no calculators period no respect at all for anyone whom he does not know well (not afraid to humiliate anyone) not much orginization to his lectures either get ready to write down his reviews, they are essential to pass his tests highschool rules(no-late, no food, etc)

Mr. Boler might be a good mathematician, but he's an awful teacher. He's very old school and don't use any type of technology to help us. He graphs on a paper and expects you to see what he's doing. Don't even make use of the projector. He's VERY boring. BUT, his tests are the easiest that I've ever took in my life. Only 6 questions from his notes.

His class actually wasn't that hard. If you know basic math & you stay at least somewhat conscious during class you'll be fine. He is strict. Missing class isn't as big of a deal like he says. You can keep up. Make sure to write everything down & do the practice stuff. His tests are not hard, you just better have paid attention. He grades tough.

Here's the short of it: He is a fantastic mathematician, but he's an awful teacher. You will learn the math if you pay attention, but he makes you feel like such a child in his class. I love math, and I could learn a lot from Dr. Boler, but it's just not worth being treated with such disrespect. He can't handle any sort of change at all.

He starts first class by saying you should never miss a class, be late, and you are not allowed to go to the bathroom during his class. He is serious. He will chuckle at your questions during his lecture and he is not afraid to humiliate you in front of the class. I'm terrified to ask questions. No calculators are allowed,ever. Tough skin required.

He is blunt. Very blunt. But an extremely intelligent man with a interesting personality. I love math, so i did naturally well in College algebra 1314. But i could lots of students were having trouble, you have to participate if you want to pass! Math is not a given! Work hard! I recommend Boler to ANYONE!!!

He is very helpful. However, I had taken cal 3 at the u of h. His course is nowhere near as in depth as it should be. The tangents happen but they are usually quite interesting. I would definitely recommend him if you do the not graded hw.
