There are few grades. I wrote down almost everything said in class, and the tests were easy As. There are 2 passage quizzes (you match quotes to their stories/poems) which are kind of difficult unless you really study. I enjoyed the class though.

Don't take him if you want an easy A. I enjoy drama and theatre but this class is very difficult for me. Our only grades are from tests and quizzes. He gives no homework and expects you to know every single detail about the play. I'm in Intro to Drama and he treats it like it's a post-grad class.

I took his graduate level course on English Fairy Tales. He's full of lit-nerd humor & other puny items. I enjoyed it, but some may not. He's big on knowledge of the era. He forces student to know context of the era when analysing literature. Review literature & important authors before you take this class if you want an A.

I was unimpressed. We had only 4 grades the entire course and 2 of them were within the last few weeks of the semester so it was really hit or miss with your grade. He expects you to know everything about English Literature. He gives passage quizzes which are essentially quotation identification and are extremely hard. Would not recommend.

Dr. Fowler is amazing! He is so passionate about what he does and that makes it easy to learn. Attendance is mandatory but if you have an emergency (like i did) he is very willing to work with you. The stories he chooses are interesting, but be sure to read every night and write the paragraph because that will be a grade later. Will take him again.

Dr. Fowler is an awesome guy who is really passionate about what he does. He's very knowledgeable about poetry and wants his students to be able to better understand it as well. You recite 2 poems from memory, you have a quiz every couple of weeks (if you read the book, which is easy, its fine), and a midterm and final where you analyze a poem.

This man is brilliant, but he expects you to be brilliant as well. This is a sophomore class and he treats it like a post grad course. 400pts total, 2 exams=100 each. 3 recitations=50 each. 5 quizzes=10 each. The exams are essays over poems he picks, the recitations are memorized poems to be recited aloud in class and the quizzes are IMPOSSIBLE.

Dr. Fowler treats us like graduate students and expects us to know everything about the era and literature when coming into the class. His expectations are way too high for a level 2 class. His tests are a joke. Not in an easy way; Quite the opposite. They are incredibly difficult even if you study. Attendance is mandatory and he will drop you.

He's an ok teacher! Reading is mandatory in order to pass the class. Every reading will be discussed in class so pay attn, because they will also be on the small 10 point quizzes. I wouldn't take him again, but he's reasonable.

Dr. Fowler was a great instructor. You might think you don't have to read the material - which was always worth the read anyway - but if no one reads there's no productive discussion and then everyone's time has been wasted. He gives really good analyses and explainations. Highly recommend. Will take subsequent classes of his.

okay...he takes role. he likes class participation. stay up on the reading or you will have a hard time. the quizes are easy with fill in the blank and matching but you have to read. at first, he was very hard for me to follow and talked in circles a little, but I learned how to listen to him after a while and liked the class. oh...and it's a give

I found Fowler uninspirational, especially for his Lit II class. The material was amazing, but his skills in teaching lacked passion. The tests are hard and have tons of quotes, so read closely.

Great teacher! Many times the stories we read I didn't enjoy at all until he began explaining them in the amazing way he does. You have to read but he does break everything down pretty well. Tests are essay format mostly but just listen in class and you will do fine. Attendence is a must and he never missed a day!

I adored his classes. He is an extremely competent teacher and expects your best so don't wimp out on his classes if you take them. A few tests (mostly essay or "short" answer) and a term paper. What a brilliant man! He was the highlight of my education. And that smile really lights-up his face...

He Brings a Sam's Diet Coke to every class!!!! It cracks me up......Dr. Fowler is one of the greatest English minds at UCA. He has brilliant insight. The class is not as hard as you would think as long as you keep up with your readings. Even if you dont, he breaks down every peice of your reading so you will understand.
