Comment:
James is very nice, and would be a great manager. That being said, he is not a good prof, he doesn't teach you anything at all so be prepared to self-teach the entire class. He also meddles in projects and forces you to do things you have no interest in. I would only take a class with him again since he was good to me, but it was a hard class.

James is an incredibly busy man, and it shows. He is never on time to class, gives poor instruction (as he is too busy talking about other, non-related things), and isn't particularly good with organizing his time. Our final project was pushed back three separate times, and the instruction on how to finish it was handed out the night before.

Comment:
In 2017 James was incredibly knowledgeable about the industry. But he was so preoccupied with projects he was late to 90% of his classes, and could not focus on teaching us how to use the program well. Final project was cut in difficulty b/c he knew he hadn't taught us enough for it. He did assign the cheapest textbook though, since 1 was mandatory

Was a great prof for me. He listens to his students and gives great feedback. He's very understanding of when circumstances impact your ability to participate in class (ex. mental health) that being said he can get hung up on a tangent or go off on a tangent but he can be pushed back on track. He's just very enthusiastic about his class.

Comment:
James seems knowledgable in 3D but falls short in being a quality professor. He is consistently late, unprepared, and seems to be more concerned with his life outside of the university than the students who are in his class. His lectures are insufferably boring and he will consider you absent if you are seen looking at your phone even once.

Comment:
One of the few professors in the New Media Department with relevant knowledge from maintaining his work in the industry. As someone interested in 3D modelling and video game design, James is the sole professor with an actual idea on what is being used in the industry and has bomb guest contacts. It is the hardest NMED class, but well worth taking.

Best professor I've had. Doesn't teach outdated methods or programs (those that the University is willing to fund,) and has real-world experience with the industry. He's got contacts that he has shared with students, and given them jobs and industry experience. He'll help you along a career path moreso than most other professors.

Hes a great guy and knows his stuff but he tends to run on random things that are not relative to the class. Easy grader though, very vague, but a couple people complained on a project and he gave every one 100% on it. Kind of a push over. Claims if you miss 3 classes you fail but never takes attendance.

A very likable professor who knows his stuff. Starts from the ground up, and makes sure that all students are understanding the material and can follow along with the demonstrations.

James is a great guy and a great prof. He does move fast, and has a somewhat annoying tendency to go on tangents about his other classes and things, but he's incredibly friendly, helpful, skilled, and knowledgeable. Probably my fav New Media prof.

James created an opportunity to receive very worthwhile applied studies experience. He is a man full of vision who engages students like me in developing cutting-edge uses of digital design technology. You must be a pro-active student to fully benefit from the his expertise, he doesn't babysit, but he fully supports and inspires. Enjoyed it.

Even though the animation aspect of the class was fun, we didn't get enough time to work on our final projects because he went on about random things. Not only did we have a huge final project but we also had a final exam. We barely used our textbooks and when we did it was like reading a dictionary. In general though it was only an okay class.

Started out like a good class, but quickly became very disorganized. Proff rambles on until there is no time left to teach the material. Heavy workload in the 2nd half of the semester because proff does not use time effectively and crams 70% of the assignments into the last 3 weeks of class.

This class was tight. James is an awesome teacher. His lectures are really interresting. Ran out of time at the end of the semester, so the last project was a little rushed. But James tried to make the best of it. It's hard to cram so much into one class, into such a short time. All in all James kicks ass!

Comment:
James is an excellent instructor. My only complaint is the lack of scheduling and being so rushed at the end of semester. Or making animation a course unto itself, i had a lot of interest in animation and really did not have a good opportunity to effectively get a handle on this.
