Comment:

Professor Linahon is very self-centered when it comes to his lectures. He found a way to turn music history into an autobiography of his accomplishments. If you simply show up and do the work, it isn't a difficult class, but I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

Wish I could have had the chance to be engaged in class but all of our time goes to listening to name-drop filled tall tales. Doesn't cite sources and has given completely misinformed lectures. The class is required for music majors but not intended for music majors, I felt that if he had connected with us more there could have been actual learning

I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you're looking for easy credits. He tends to get off topic during lectures so if you want to pass the test you HAVE to do the reading. He provides study guides for his test & they're all open notes so you can definitely pass but it's a lot of work and your notes must be really precise.

I took this class because I figured history of rock being taught by any teacher would be good since this class is based off music Linahon doesnt lecutre right Hes always talking about the success he had in the past. Brags about his life style His tests dont involve with music half the time Recommend a different teacher

Literally just show up and pass. His lectures really get off topic sometimes but it's bearable. The tests are somewhat hard and I averaged a C on every test after the first one but still got an A cause I believe he curves grades at the end. He offers one extra credit assignment (watch a movie) and concert reports will be required.

Awesome class. I took History of Rock online and loved it. It's more of a fun activity learning from Linahon than an actual class. Would recommend for sure.

Not an easy A class, but it's an easy B class. Lecture heavy but straight forward about the work from the beginning. Professor Linahon is kind of a music blowhard and cocky but it's because he knows what he's talking about. Has cool connections if you're looking to get into music I would talk to him about it.

He verbally gives the study guide for exams and those questions do not help what-so-ever on exam. Watch a lot of videos on material that isn't covered on exam as well. He talks about himself a lot! I never missed class, sat in the front, and did every assignment and I got B's & C's on exams (typically I am an A student). I wouldn't recommend.

Don't bother wasting your time taking this professor. Honestly, this class along lectures and study guides he provides are useless for his exams. Expects you to know the material as he does. I disliked this professor. I honestly believe he shouldn't be teaching this class to begin with. Not a good professor. Take someone else or a different GE.

Worst professor at FJC. Has handouts for every other class that have nothing to do with the test. Expects you to know the material simply because he does. Don't bother asking questions in class, he'll only insult your for not knowing it. Overall, if you could take anyone else do it.

Do NOT believe people when they say he is a "fantastic" professor. Those people are just as delusional as him. Everyone knows you take these lame online music classes just to get some easy credits but in this case, DON'T. He is extremely vague and then tells you that you're the problem. He is a condescending useless professor.

Took his online class, and it went GREAT! He stayed on top of informing the class on upcoming assignments, quizzes, exams, etc. He is a very understanding professor, and cares a lot about his students, even though the class is online! He is also a pretty good at getting back to emails quickly! I enjoyed his class so much i registered for another!!

Talks about himself and most of his 'lectures' are just tangents on what music he's helped produced or silly stories involving famous musicians. You're honestly better off staying home and reading the book intensely while also focusing on the reading assignments. Tests are open note so having a few pages and textbook gives you a nice A.

Overall my experience in the online class was pretty good. One time I mixed up two test dates and missed an exam which I was absolutely not allowed to make up-- which is truthfully my fault, not his, to keep things fair. The class itself was enjoyable and the tests were very easy. Don't expect lenience.

If you're squared away, you will have no problem with this class. I took it online, so that's all I can speak for. Lots of reminders of when assignments are due, grade based only on test performance (points taken off if homework not done on time). The LearnSmart online book thing was a bit confusing, but overall I enjoyed the class.

It may be a huge factor to my overall awareness being focussed in class but, I had early in the mornings from 8:35-10:00 a.m. The opera was so loud in his class that it's almost hard to go to sleep this early. He is a little funny too but, I wish I could've taken this class in the afternoon when I'm wide awake. It's a great class if you love opera

He's the worst teacher at FC. He shows up 10 minutes every day and let's class out 20-30 minutes early. He's extremely lazy and his tests have questions he never went over . He spends most of his time talking about himself. He's also rude and condescending. Also get ready to be insulted because he does that a lot. Whatever you do, don't get him!!!!

Talks about himself. A lot. never clear on vocabulary and half the time the notes you take in class are useless. Granted, his tests and exams are open notes. with that said if he's lectures and definitions were relative to the exams everyone would have passed with flying colors. Does not help you outside of class and no retakes on tests. RUN!

Don't listen to those fake reviews below me. They were all done on 20915 and look almost the same. It's just Linahon trying to feel better about himself. Probably the worst professor I've had in college so far. Spends too much time talking about himself and sharing BS stories about how he's worked with so many celebrities, the man is delusional.
