Awesome professor and very engaging. Watch snippets almost every class from the television miniseries made from the "textbook". The paper is due early in the semester so its out of the way and the exam is easy if you pay attention and study. Ogg knows his stuff and is very passionate. I went to every class period because I actually wanted to learn.

Want to waste time on a Gen Ed? Take this course. The paper is a 10 page, single spaced, font size 12 paper. It's not on a topic you discuss in class, but any random oil related topic. You can only (mostly) use printed material Library. Good luck with it once you are 2-3 pages deep and realize that to get ti 10 pages you need to get really deep.

Very disorganized. He gives us assignments without telling us ahead of time, does not adhere to the schedule he gave us in our syllabi, and he isn't even present in class for half of the time. Assignment and quiz wise, questions are usually very much poorly worded.

This class was super interesting. I am convinced that everything (history, politics, economics, current events) is about oil! Not difficult to get an A by showing up and doing the tiny homework assignments. There was only one paper, and we got to choose our own topics.

Seems like the hardest class you signed up for as you are in class listening to his lectures, but honestly GO TO HIM FOR HELP. He will try his hardest for those who ask for help and are WILLING to learn. He admires the students who try and definitely reflect that in your final grade. just remember ASK FOR HELP. (also gives a lot of extra cred)

Dr. Ogg is a great professor. His lectures were always interesting and insightful. We watched a lot of movies and had a lot of guest speakers. There's a little bit of work (2 papers, 5 homeworks), but if you did them, you get an A. He is a leader in his field. He is one of the geologists who helped accurately layout the earth's past.

He's a very enthusiastic professor. Exams were pretty difficult. You must go to lecture to get most of the information (There are questions derived on the exam from the films we watch during class) He offers lots of extra credit, so it's not difficult to get an A. There are 3 exams and 1 ten page paper. Overall: Good class!

Dr. Ogg was an awesome teacher i have him for EAS 104 oceanography right now and the class is interesting and he does a good job of giving you facts. he gets very excited and shows a true passion for his class. he also tries to insert small corny jokes which help ease the class.

I had him for EAS104 (Oceanography) and EAS191a(Oil), both of which were good class experiences. His tests are demanding but not unfair. I like him especially since I was exempt from taking the final in each of those classes.

Great class, learned a lot of information. I did fall asleep a few times, but he puts all of the slides on the internet so it won't effect your learning. His petrol class is worth taking especially in today's market.
