I loved this class so much! I took her First Year Seminar called Contemplative Practices and it was a great break from all of my super hard academic classes. You can't procrastinate in this class cause its hard to catch up if you do but she gave me 100% on our second paper just because she knew I put in a lot of effort. Would definitely take again!

I absolutely love Jane! I just had her FYS class (Contemplative Practices) and it was so fun and she's so sweet. She'll have you do a lot of projects in that class and all you have to do is show up everyday, actually put effort and creativity into the projects, and then you get an A.

I took contemplative practices for my first year seminar. Lots of busy work, but a good class to take. Could be very artsy which I loved. You keep a sketchbook to respond to articles, lectures, and videos, & keep a journal of a certain practice you do every day. DON'T PROCRASTINATE. happy with this class overall, hard to catch up if absent

great professor loved the class. Lots of homework but everything I learned was extremely helpful. Many times we would turn in an assignment, have a critique, then be able to improve the final project before grading. Lots of grace at the end of the semester letting students redo assignments in hopes of a better grade.

came to class for 7:15pm class, worked hard, turned in projects on time, painted a mural. First I got an Incomplete for 2 years then she went back and changed my grade to a C. I thought I did better than a C but it's ok. she's still a great and helpful teacher. I would take a class from her again

She is so much nicer than people made her out to be. Brucker has the student's best interest at hand and is always helpful when you are struggling with your technique. This was one of my favorite classes. :)

Art in LA is one of my fave classes at LMU. I am an art hist mjr and I was worried about doing to art required for this class, but Jane is very helpful and encouraging and guides you with your projects. As an art hist mjr though, I did prefer the art section of this class. nothing personal.

i thought she sounded ok so i took her and it's a big mistake. seems like she grades according to how much she likes u. does weird meditation exercises and expects u to hv no life outside her class. i pissed her off by telling her i need to finish my work by 3pm (i've there since 9 am) i'm in a rush to get somewhere.

Horrible. Bad grading practices-penalized people for not showing on 9/11/01. Takes journal too seriously, this is for creative writers not visual. Some assmnts were useful like artist statmnts. uses ambiguous grading standards to penalize: subjective,unnecessary,contrary to teaching. Big complaint-Just sits,few lectures or demos-Does she teach?

She can be very helpful at times, but if you aren't planning on making a career out of art, then you might want to sonsider taking another class. She has a SERIOUS bias against those who aren't planning on going to grad school or making a living off of art. She also has a tendancy to act like a b*tch towards you if you make one mistake.

She's a wonderful prof. It's a hard class bc u cannot procrastinate (life is very sad when u do), that's just the way painting goes but she does expect a lot and if u put all your effort into it, your art work totally pays off. Exhibitions are really fun. There's also a sketchbook component.

jane is condescending to those who don't understand art at her level. she isn't painfully difficult but asks a lot from students. i wouldn't take her unless it was absolutely necessary. she's also not friendly to those who don't kiss her ass or live and breathe art.

i took drawing I and painting I with jane. she's very cool, but hard. she expects a lot from her students. also, she's very expressive and gestural, and she's awesome if you're into the conceptual and spiritual aspect of art.
