LITERALLY WHO GIVES A FINAL EXAM FOR ENGLISH. i was told meeting with her outisde of class would help me with my writing but i ended up with not even a C+. all classes are mandatory and if u miss a class, ur mark for the assignment ur working on is reduced and participation is like 15% of final grade but painfully boring classes tho

Comment:

Although Janet was nice and approachable, she went over the same topics unnecessary amounts of time. She definitely showed favouritism to a few students. I went from getting A+ on all my high school essays to barely a C+. VERY hard marker. I know this course is challenging, but I felt that I would've done a lot better with a different prof.

Very hard marker but it makes you stronger. Does not explain the different styles of papers. Also does not tell you how to write an argumentative, compassion, etc types of essays, Because of that the assignments are a little unclear. She does care about her job a lot though, and was funny.

She is the worst teacher I have ever taken at Douglas College. She expects you to make it to every single class, she talks down to her students and her classes are no help when it comes to her papers. She says she expects you to ask for help and when you do she treats students like they are dumb.

Janet is definitely a tough marker, but she gives really helpful feedback on your papers. Don't skip class, show up with assignments done, put in effort, and she'll have no problem helping you out. Challenging class, but she's a really helpful teacher!

Janet is a hard marker for sure but she does give good feedback. I excel at English but struggled in this course. I received extra help from her and this boosted my mark greatly! Lectures are clear. Topics and discussions can be boring. When you receive your essay back ask for help! She notices the effort and this will help you on the next essay!

She is a hard marker and english is usually tough anyways! Keep up with the mistakes you make and work at it. She is always there to help and can clear up any issues you have. If you are lacking ideas on a paper oshe will steer you in the right direction. She is great and but a hard marker. Dont skip & ask for help when needed.

Janet is a very interesting teacher. If you really want to improve your writing feel free to take this class! She is a difficult marker but gives really good feedback and always clarifies her feedback when you have questions. Her lectures can be a bit repetitive but she gets passionate so you never fall asleep. Be ready to read though!

Worst teacher. Super hard marker. goes way beyond "constructive criticism." she is also very rude and gives snarky comments back on work. Long long lectures, and its almost impossible to get a C+. You may think your writing is well written but just give it to her to mark and she will prove you wrong. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.

She is tough, but is lenient when possible. Don`t expect an easy A, but she does teach you very well. If you put in the time you can easily get a C+ or higher. She replies to emails frequently and often, and is always willing to help or give advice. Take her if you want to do well and learn something.

VERY HARD MARKER! if you were good at english in high school, think again. Extremely hard english teacher. most regular "a" students get c's. Hope you like writing boring papers too, because thats all it is.

I had Janet for Children's Literature last semester, and I really didn't have any issue with the class. It was painfully easy; only issue I have is her favouritsm to certain students, and repetitive nature. You should know how to write an essay/ use correct grammar by college, so stop whining!

she's so helpful! If you do your homework and ask her for help you will learn a lot in this class. Don't be late or forget to staple the pages of your essay together. I HATED writing before I took this class but she is very encouraging.

one of the most boring classes ever. i took childrens lit thinking it might be a little more interesting.... NOPE! only 2 essays but lots of reading. if you ask, she'll help you a lot ( but you have to ask) attending class is part of your mark. can be a little unclear at times and her essays are all comparisons and contrasts of 2 books
