We need more instructors like Jason. He goes beyond just the classroom and stresses to students that they have to do much more if they want to be successful.

Given the very low coding level of students in COMP 1451 Jason does an amazing job of making sure everybody is getting something out of his course. It is really hard to teach basics of a programing language and I think he does it really well. He is the best comp teacher I have had and would love to take more courses with him.

Great teacher, maybe. But here's what to expect: he spends way too much focus on "business practices" instead of coding. Way too laidback lectures and may not go through the teaching material. Teaching style not the best for coding courses IMO.

Jason is an amazing teacher that you should take. You need to know that the class COMP2825 is a required class, but you probably will never actually use it. Delay taking it until you need to for prereqs etc. Take classes that can help you get a job first just in case. Super inspiring, pushes you to be your best, and is very helpful in class.

He's very entrepreneurial and will do talks on entrepreneurship after lectures. To those who want to learn how to get their career going in tech, he's definitely a gem. His lectures are to the point, he has a fairly laid back teaching style and doesn't over explain. He's smart so don't be afraid to ask him questions.

Every single lecture he just brags about his son and martial arts and it seems like he himself isn't even successful and yet he talks about business all the time. Doesn't even prepare slides, he just writes stuff on paper and doesn't answer questions well. Often he says "ask someone".

Amazing prof. I took COMP2121 with him in the summer, and I have him for Computer Architecture this term and he's just as good. Someone who is absolutely respected and wants to lead students to success. MAGIC TRICKS YES. And he gives good life advice. I'm always inspired.

He grazed the surface of what javascript can do. Spends more time inspiring and encouraging you to create stuff. At the end all that inspiration dies when I try to code something and end up in frustration because not much material was taught.

I'm a mature student. And the one thing I appreciate is that Jason tells it how it is, and prepares you to be an adult. My one little criticism is that he speaks in absolutes a little too often. But otherwise he is my favorite instructor by far.

Had him in Java class also. He is inspiring, and encourages you to pursue your ambitions. More concerned about how to make money via programming rather than diving deeper into concepts. But I took this class to learn about closures, IIFEs, callbacks, hoisting, etc, but barely mentions them. These are important concepts for front end development!

Overall really great guy that wants his students to succeed. I find that there are some concepts he glosses over or does not mention that would be very beneficial for someone who knows nothing about JavaScript. The class is fairly fast-pace, fairly laid back with quizzes and pretty good lecture examples.

One of the best programming professors I've ever had in my lifetime, and I had many. Sure there's a lot of homework (more than any other instructor I had), but that's how programming is meant to be learned. And don't even think about skipping any of them, despite your programming expertise.

He may seem blunt at first but you'll quickly realize that he is a god among profs. He really makes you think about things and be more analytical in general. PS never ever bring out a calculator in his class unless you want to be lectured

Great instructor for one of the hardest course in CST. You better be prepared for what he throws at you especially during the midterm since it is completely different than what you would expect. If you start to fall behind during the second half the course you won't pass.
