Comment:

Dr Olson is so nice, great person but she was not clear at all! Their is a 10 page paper that is extremely easy. A two exams and a presentation. Don't buy the book no point you can google everything. At least 5 guest speakers She loves if you interact with speakers Lectures make no sense Just wing it and be nice to her !

Comment:

Hands down WORST professor I've ever had. Unorganized, spills coffee on student's stuff, eats in class, SLEEPS in class, shows videos and relies on speakers, doesn't teach what is on tests. Very disappointed with this class.

Dr. Olson is extremely intelligent but seems as if she still teaches to kill time, she isn't very into it. She mostly uses movies and maps on the overhead to teach which doesn't really clarify anything. There is one oral presentation that is insanely easy, a 13 page paper that is also pretty easy, and a midterm and final. Not recommended, though.

Good assortment of articles, books, and lectures used to master subject. Dr. Olson integrates video and guest speakers into class to enhance learning. Good class to take if you are interested in the subject.

Dr. Olson is very knowledge on the subject of the Renaissance. Many students complain about her style and techniques, however, I think if you are interested in the subject and read the material assigned, you will learn much from her classes. She allows the students the freedom and creativity to choose your topics for your paper.

I've been to every class.I took all her tests,watched vids,had my cell light, iPod,& Sudoku,& even took notes.It's amazing if u took any notes because all we did was watched vids & heard guest lecturers.She eats,drinks,& sleeps in class.She passed gas twice,the loud kind too.If u have to take a CORE 4,seems like 50/50.Takes attendance before class.

Doctor Olson is a nice lady but bad professor. She is very unclear, disorganized, and tends not to explain things and instead shows us videos. I noticed that she falls asleep during student's presentations. We didn't have many assignments and she pulls grades out of her ass. Do not take her classes, very boring.

She is awesome - wicked easy .. just make sure to come to class and stay attentive. She loves people that react to her jokes. I definately recommend taking this course with her. She's a great professor.

By far, the worst professor at RIC. No organization, eats in class, 5 text books, refused to set up equipment for captioning when a deaf student was enrolled in the class. A waste of money to be sure... and this is coming from a history major.

Didn't learn anything at all. Sure it was easy, but I'm not in college because it's easy, I'm in college to learn. She didn't teach me one single thing. One time she even told the class that she had to "catch a flight" and showed a student how to use the projecter and left. This was the first 5 minutes of class. Horrible teacher, too much film.

Had her for this & HIST 305. Very helpful if you treat her w/ respect. Lots of expensive books for her courses. Lectures a bit disordered. Not a very hard teacher overall. Bad memory, though - keep reminding her of any deals you make w/ her or she will forget.
