I loved Katz. His lectures are straightforward and well-organized, and he makes reaction guides for every reaction you need to know for the exams and puts them online. He curves his exams but if you want to do really well, PRACTICE! do the problem sets and practice exams! Trying to memorize reactions won't help you.

Katz was extremely straightforward and he taught for the tests which is extremely helpful. If you do the homework and the practice exams, getting an A is not hard.

Katz is a great teacher. His lectures are clear, well organized, and straight forward. Does not teach from the textbook like Das does, and his tests can be completely different from the practice exams. Tests are difficult, but if you attend lectures and take good notes you should have no problem

Really nice professor, cares about the students and tries his best to make us understand the material. Tests are not extremely bad, but there are occasional problems that are really mind baffling. However, not much worse than high school tests. One thing though, he seems like a genius that sometimes don't realize we don't get things now

Terrible experience. He will give you all the attention in the world if you love chemistry as much as he does. Otherwise, it's all you. Katz FLIES through material in class and expects you to know everything he does moments after it touches the board. Shockingly, that's just not how OChem works. He belongs with PhD students, not undergrads.

Worst academic experience at Colby. He goes over material really fast in class and gets frustrated with too many questions. Was not helpful at all. If you are good at ochem, he will probably like you/want to help you. If you struggle with the subject, you are on your own.

J-dog is a great prof for the seasoned chemist. personally, i think he might be a bit hard for those just starting out. expect to do a lot of work and thinking and to have some fun along the way. sometimes he comes off a bit intimidating, but he really is a great guy.

Prof Katz, is a very good teacher. His style of teaching really helped me learn ochem in a concise and visual way. Katz seemed genuinely eager to help students and always tried his hardest to do I didn't find his course exceptionally hard, but it was ochem and therefore difficult.

He is the most unhelpful professor I've had. He made me feel like an idiot everytime I left his office. He was never around for lab when we had questions. He's enthusiastic about organic chemistry, but if he doesn't care if other people learn about it, he should be in industry, not academia.

he's fairly new so thats probably why he can't ever seem to convey his train of thought to lecture. he's also kind of cocky, makes you feel like the questions you ask are dumb...tests are really hard.
