Comment:

I love Professor Hontz, one of the best professors for math. However, her grading can be frustrating. She takes off a lot of points for the smallest things because she is huge on notation. That being said I love her open note take home quizzes! She is very straightforward in what she wants you to know for the tests. No surprises on her exams.

She gives take home tests which are both helpful to study for the test but also not helpful because you wont have your notes on the test. This class is really hard conceptually but Dr. Hontz makes it as fun and clear as she can.

Great professor. Hontz really makes you work for your grades and is a very tough grader, but she is a great person and will work with you to do better in her class. Talking to her one-on-one is hard -- in the best way; she gets you so emotional by reminding you of how capable you are of doing the things you may be struggling with.

She has potential, but she is lazy and it is showing. She gives us two question to turn in and doesn't go over it in class, but we have to catch her during her office hours, but she leaves by three, She is not that welcoming, its like she takes it personal if people don't understand the work.

Shes very clear on what she wants you to do on the test. As long as you do the homework and use good notation your going to do fine in her class. Wanna get her distracted? Start asking about her kids and you can waste the first few minutes of class if your that desperate to not do math.

Ungraded HW is nice but dont be stupid. She tests you on mastery of the ch so tests are long but "easy"; if you can easily do the qs from the weekly quizzes, you are mostly ok. Heavy notation emphasis, its bs and ppl lose a lot of points from it. She tells you how to avoid penalty and is pretty clear about what she expects. materialdiff, classfun

Dr. Hontz was both my calc teacher and my faculty advisor and you will never meet a more helpful and supportive professor. She is very clear with what she expects of you and will tell it to you like it is. Her tests are no surprise at all and you won't be caught off guard with the questions she asks. If you have her as an option, choose her!

I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful a teacher Mrs.Hontz is! I am horrible at my math but she has made it my favorite class, she is very organized and clear, if you attend class, pay attention, and study you will be able to choose your grade. She is so helpful! I havent liked math since 10th grade she is the reason I may give calculus a shot!

I am an art major and I took her for STATS. I am horrible at math of any kind and she was SOOOO helpful and would be more than happy to set up appointments. She is extremely nice and excited about what she teaches. She wants everyone to understand and will take time in class to make sure that happens. Overall, great teacher.

One of the best professors I've had at Meredith! I was nervous taking Calculus but I ended up doing really well in the class. She explains things very well and as long as you do the hw and study, you'll be fine.

She is amazing! She can have a little bit of an attitude and she has no patience for stupid questions, but who does? She treats you like adults, so if you don't make an effort you will fail on your own accord. But she wants to make everything as easy as possible for her students and she is very good at making the material clear....I loved her!

very helpful, wouldn't let me quit when i wanted to and encouraged me that i was doing well, wonderful lady, and understands when students are getting the material, tough on homework grading but doesn't let it hurt you final grade if you do ok on the tests.
