I usually don't write about professors on here; however, Professor Mellor is truly exceptional. Not only is she incredibly educated on health economics and policy, but she truly cares about her students. She will always go out of her way to make sure her students succeed and always gathers their opinions. I couldn't recommend her more!

Comment:
Professor Mellor's unengaging and awkward way of teaching ruined the course for me. She was extremely accessible to students and wanted to help as much as possible. Unfortunately, this was of no help. She seemed constantly uncomfortable teaching the material and her teaching style was inconsistent, unorganized rambling. Grading was unfair.

10/10 recommend Economics of Bad Behavior with Professor Mellor. Readings are interesting and the nearly 100% discussion based class raises lots of important questions and answers. 1 exam on econ concepts is pretty tough, final research paper isn't bad at all. Participate and go to office hours and Professor Mellor will help you succeed.

Professor Mellor is amazing. She is extremely passionate about her work and is very accessible and personable. There are a lot of readings but these are very interesting and provide good inspiration for the term paper. I love her both as a professor and a person.

Professor Mellor is just gorgeous. She teaches us how to read, critique professional economic paper and ways of writing. She won't directly give you the answer but lead you to go through the way of thinking. Want to really learn something? Take the class. Her class is real Liberal Art Education and what teach you to fish. And A is not that hard.

Comment:
This class is reading heavy, she assigns 2-3 readings per class with discussion questions. There were 2-3 short papers which were graded fairly, however the midterm on microeconomics killed my grade. Definitely participate in class discussions if you want to get on her good side. However, the writing wise the class was not difficult.

This seminar was great, especially for anyone with an interest in Econ. 3 short papers, graded fairly. One exam on micro theory-- I found it hard because she did not teach the technical stuff very well. The final literature review is 6-8 pages and she is readily available during office hours to discuss and give feedback. Very sweet.

Definitely don't take her frsm if you have zero interest in econ. She deserves more credit than she gets on here. She gives you the chance to redo one of the papers, which she already grades easily. She explains material well, and discussions are interesting. Not too much reading. She is a little unsure of herself, but it doesn't affect anything.

I probably won't continue with econ, but the topics covered in this class were interesting and prof. Mellor teaches in a way that makes it easy to acquire a basic understanding of economics. Work consists of 2 tests, 3 2-page papers, and a 6-8 page final paper. It's a fair amount of work, but overall, not a bad freshman seminar.

Wow. this professor is by far the worst professor i have ever had. Exams were nearly impossible. Very awkward during office hours, and not helpful. I had never studied so much for a C+ in my entire life. AVOID HER AT ALL COST. (Take Haulman instead--I had him for 102 and got an A!!)

If you understand the material very well and aren't easily bored, she's okay. BUT HEAVEN FORBID that you actually need her to TEACH. I did everything possible, went to office hours and studied hard, and I STILL don't have an A. She tells you to come to office hours, but HATES it when you do, and tries to get you out ASAP. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.

What a useless waste of time this class was. Her lectures were awful and completely redundant if you even looked at the books. I stopped going to class after the first exam and still pulled an A-.

Mellor seems like a nice lady, but her teaching style is lacking. She gets nervous in front of the class and her lectures are very confusing. If you just read and study the text and skip class, you should do just fine.

The worst teacher I've ever had. I emailed her asking for help/advice on how to study for the midterm, she told me that she didn't have time and to get a tutor. I spend the majority of my time teaching myself the material for class. Do yourself a favor and take econ with a better professor.
