THE worst professor I've ever had. Think's he is the funniest guy in the world and will interrupt every students presentations to tell jokes and basically do their presentation for them. Power points are over 100 slides long (one was 338 slides) with way too much information that is poorly organized. Unclear criteria for grading and assignments.

Comment:

He gave out assignments that were almost never clear and I had to ask for clarification probably twice every class session. He constantly interrupts students in an effort to be funny and it's brutal to deal with at times. Group presentation assignments weren't clear and were not enriching to learn.

Jerry Arkenberg is very passionate about history. His class format was kind of strange, and there is A LOT of class participation and interaction with your classmates. First class at MCC I got to know other people in my classes. PREPARE for the midterm and final essays, it will be worth it! Great teacher!

Comment:

First time I had a professor who didn't make history boring. He uses the textbook excellently, since he compiled it, and it's not as dry as most textbooks, since it's a compilation of primary sources. If you have a quirky sense of humor, he's also pretty funny. The PowerPoint presentations are all online for everyone's convenience, as well.

He is a great teacher. He doesn't have tests, only short quizzes after lectures. We do group work often. He is a smart teacher and definitely knows his stuff. Overall he is an excellent teacher. If you don't like participating in discussions then I don't recommend it.

This teacher was amazing and was vey smart. He explained the topic in a well manor and offered extra credit for creativity. He was very helpful with any questions. Homework and test are very easy if you just read documents. Everyone who complained about him probably didn't read at all. He wrote me an amazing letter of rec. for UW MAdison. Excellent

DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER. His powerpoint notes are LONG and BORING, he goes through them way too fast. His exams are insane he expects 4-5 pages responses for the questions on the exam. His homework is all very hazy and difficult to know what he actually is looking for. This class is NO fun, and involves way too relying on your team members

History major, and this man makes me dislike history because he bores me so much. I am constantly falling asleep in his class. Don't take any history classes with him. Oh and the homework and document exercises, are stupid. They have no point. And he isn't clear on what he wants from them anyway. Plus he makes you work in groups. Which is dumb.

Extremely dedicated professor who happens to be extremely knowledgeable about the subject. class in a little unconventional, but in a good way. Like anything else, you will receive what you give. Make the effort, attend class, take good notes and study a little and you will receive an A. Very interesting topics.

Western Civ was great. He is very very passionate about the class and loves teaching it. Sometimes he'll get on little rants. There are quizzes every class after lecture, but after about the 5th week, he just stopped having them.

Neither too hard nor too easy. You want hard take Nyaggah or Crabbs. Class was very entertaining and I learned a lot! Really the best teacher at CSUF. Too bad he no longer teaches here!

he is so easy and if you get to know him he is really funny. He helps you out a lot and shows a lot of movies never any hw besides easy reading and class work is easy as well as mid term and final he is a really great teacher that loves history

Easy class, group work. HAVE to attend class everyday. Two test (eassay format) grades really easy. Couple of extra credit assignment if interested which is basically like 1/2 of ur midterm or final. Easy class, funny professor, curses alot.

easy, he will tell you the answers if you ask. 2 test, essay format but he grades easily, as long as you show that you know what youre talking about. buying his books suck though because you cant sell them back.
