pretty easy class. just attend and take good notes on videos. definitely go to class before the midterm and final since he reviews pretty much exactly what will be on it. easy ge class.

Would not have taken the class if I did not need the art credit. Chapman is a really nice guy, but is somewhat unorganized. Does not let students know when the final is until late in the quarter. However he was very accomodating

worst teacher ever!!!! he never put up my grade after the quarter was over and failed to respond to my emails about it and ended up giving me a b+ eventhough i got an a on the midterm and final which clearly makes no sense! dont take his classs eventhough hes like fired now

I would not recommend this class, he goes off topic about stupid things. I hated going to the class and trying to approach him is a joke. Especially at 8am. You fall asleep watching the movies but if you don't watch them and listen to him the midterm and final screw you over. Somehow I managed a B, but the pain it took to get there was NOT worth it

This class is super easy for anyone who can go to class and take notes. Reading the nonsense in the reader isn't necessary, just review the pages he tells you before the tests. The performances are so boring and weird but there is not really any other homework so it is worth it.

Hard to pay attention but go to lecture because the midterm and final are based almost completely on lecture. Don't buy the reader, I threw it away without touching it once. Remember to go to the performances because he doesn't remind you to. Overall, easy art credit.

He's an incredibly nice guy and the class was well organized. He never takes up the whole time alloted for the class and shows the perfect amount of dance videos and clips. He's very clear about what will be on the midterm, but you do have to study at least some.

It was pretty funny when in the middle of a lecture about ballet he would say "if you are feeling depressed, go to a psychiatrist"...yeah, he gets off topic- a lot

Though this class is very easy, it is hard in the sense that it is hard to pay attention to his idiotic ramblings. He does not seem to be an expert on the topic which he should be since he is a professor, instead he just knows more than the average man which anyone can get from a book. soooo go to class & take notes b/c what he says will be on the mid/final, which are all multiple choice. the reader isnt really necessary since he gets his info from it..i didnt have one & got an A. lectures sometimes are really off topic. very off topic. papers are easy as long as its detailed/insightful.

A really interesting class. He goes on tangents sometimes but it makes the class interesting. Its an easy A, easy papers, go to class he gives you answers to tests. Pretty easy tests, basically exactly what he said in class.

Class was pretty easy. He was a very good speaker and made class interesting. I like how he tied in the theme of feminism the culture of the time. Some of the videos we watched were weird but the overall class was good. Both midterm and final were fairly easy. Need to know a lot of dates and need to attend class regularly but I def. reccommend it

Excruciatingly boring class, but worth the boredom for the A. Fulfills a writing requirement; the paper is worth 50% of your grade but I did it the night before and got an A on it. GO TO LECTURE, take notes on the dances he shows you.

Easy A if you can write and go to class b/c he shows clips from videos that you need to ID for the tests. Other than that, everything is in the reader--you won't even need to take notes. He does get off topic, but this is one of the easiest classes you'll ever take at UCSB and is well worth the boredom.
