Comment:

I took the online format of the course, but since the beginning, the assignments were confusing, the instructions were nonsense, and all the information about the course was outdated. It was by far, one of my worst experiences with a teacher, he is really a tough grader, and if you want to keep a high GPA, avoid this course.

Worst online teacher ever. Completely unclear on assignments, basically have to figure everything out yourself. Also so many spelling errors on assignments that sometimes makes it hard to even understand the questions. Links that he provides often do not work either. Would not recommend taking him online at all.

John is a fantastic instructor. It's overwhelming at first because he makes you work incredibly hard compared to every other course I've taken, but I have learned a lot. It's sad to see my GPA go down because of this course, but I've found he has really improved my work ethic. One of the better instructors at BCIT, imo.

John is the worst instructor/tough marker that I have ever met. Discussions are pointless. He does not clarify his requirement on assignments. Also, he is not often responding emails frequently .

John puts a lot of effort into his content and discussions. Beware of his grading. It is extremely tough for the amount of effort/work you have to put in. It is best to avoid this class / prof if you need a certain GPA for your future careers as this class was a GPA destroyer <90%.

His lectures were nonsense. brings up 40 slides and then flip through them mumbling "nah, not that one.. not that one.." His marking was TOUGH for a intro class, he killed EVERYONE'S GPA! My team did a presentation and he 'decided' we didn't work enough as a team and gave us zero, we fought with him for 4 weeks to fix it before he did. STAY AWAY!

I think John is a great instructor. He is helpful, and keeps our discussions on topic. He was able to implement a very interesting approach to keeping our discussions on topic which was very admirable. As long as you do your homework, participate, try your very best, and study you will be fine.

I do not want to mention the specific course as I'd like to remain totally anonymous. John is highly critical of everything you do, but he is extremely unorganized and has many faults of his own. This leads to frustration and his attitude does not create a positive learning environment. If you can, avoid taking a course with John!

so vague. i spent needless hours on homework assignments trying to figure out what he was asking. not enough practice in class of what was asked in homework assignment. many of small group discussions were pointless. large assignment was meaningful though as it applied directly to my work.

I just want to say, this teacher is not at all helpful, he is rude when replying back to emails. when asking questions he will be very mean and his favorite line to say is "you are wasting my time" no teacher says that to his/her student, that doesnt motivate students to learn
