Dr Hensley was definitely a one of a kind professor. Very cool classic car if you took his class, lectures were not specific to test particularly. Exams are your points along with attendance. Blah blah. He taught that messed up Phil guy who he talks about. Best man?? That's a level of therapy we cannot provide as students. But a brilliant mind

Comment:

Not the class I wanted for an into to psych class. He sits at his chair the whole time and hardly ever allows discussion in the class. Must follow powerpoint with notes and chapters in the book to do well on the 25 question tests. So just learn everything. Not clear on what is on tests. Also, Dr. Phil, don't bring him up.

If you get the chance to take one of his classes, DO IT. He is an amazing professor, and you can tell he really knows his stuff. He isn't the professor for everyone because he really doesn't have much of a filter (which is why I loved him). No tolerance for bs so go to class, don't be late, and stay off your phone. STUDY FOR THE TESTS!

If you have the horrible experience of taking him, don't skip even though you want to, it will kill your grade. He talks excessively about Dr. Phil, thats not what I'm paying for, or here for. Kind of offensive. I was super interested in this subject before I had him. The only points available in this class are test and attendance.

Dr. Hensley is a very interesting lecturer. He does not give grades, you earn them. You will quickly discover he gives many scenarios disguised as little interesting stories over all topics he discusses, but warning these stories are to help with his comprehensive test, so make sure your writing as you listen. Attendance is mandatory.

The class was easy. If you attend regularly and study the chapters before the exam, you can get an A. His lectures never cover the test material; so, you can tune out during class and read the book later. The best part about this class was that there weren't any papers or homework.

Attendance is a mandatory and be on time. He will mark you absent if you came in a minute late or leave early. He have simple rules that you have to follow: don't sleep or use your phone in class. Record his lectures and listen to it before a test. Study the pictures and questions from the book. Don't expect for him to dismiss class early.

Do Not take this instructor if you have serious intrest in this subject. He stares at a wall, gives lectures that doesn't corespond with the book, and also he talks about Dr. Phil. The test are hard because you have to find a way to study. Taking notes WILL NOT DO! Do not ask him questions, because he will snap as if you are getting on his nerves!

Comment:

John Hensley is a good professor if you had taken a course of Psychology in high school. I enjoyed his lectures and he is pretty funny, but sadly I didn't make it in his class. Beware of the exams. It is difficult if you cannot comprehend. He doesn't give any homework and he doesn't give any extra credit at all. He is tough.

His class is all lectures, no visual aids except for a picture everyonce and a while. He sits in his chair the entire time, stairs at the wall beside him and talks. Although he knows what he is talking about it's boring. No HW just tests. He does not use Blackboard. Grades on attendance, entire course on a curve. 90-80 is an A doesn't make it easy

It was clear he is ready to retire. He is not interested in the questions you have about the work and had to many moments of watching random youtube videos that have nothing to do with the class. He is not willing to help when you ask. He pushes you away when you ask for help. Is NOT willing to work with you or even give advice. Very stubborn! Ugh!

Meh. I had Hensley for Human Relations a few years ago and it was basically the same class. Hasn't changed his material since probably the 70's. You meet some REAL characters in his class. He wrote the book used in the course, which was really more like reading someone's horrible, dry, personal diary.

I am a woman &I took Hensleys Human Sex class and I enjoyed it! He is a wonderful teacher and makes class fun. Take notes on his lectures, review chapters in book before test, and do the written assignments you get an A. attendance is a must as well. Can be late but will dock you Takes roll immediately! e-mails you back and cares,if you talk to him

Attendance is a must. About 1/3 your grade is attendance/completion based, the rest tests. Tests are multiple choice and require reading text attentively. Forced to buy new 160$ textbook he edited, which is scummy. Taught for around half an hour each day, then we broke up into groups. Great course for building interpersonal skills, would recommend.

I would recommend this class if you can take time outside if class&attended every class-mandatory. I should've applied myself more to get a higher grade. You'll need to read your text along with the lectures-but it is worth it! Straight lectures & he can come off as rude or uncaring but I believe he does. Some things I didn't like but recommended.

Dr. Hensley is very knowledgable as far as Psychology, and you can learn some interesting things from his lectures. The problem however, is his lectures are copy/paste type lectures. Don't expect any one on one learning from him. That said, the class is ok, he's clear on what he will be giving exams on, and the exams are easy. Big on attendance.

Alright kind of guy. He is very liberal minded like myself so if you are conservative don't take offense. We took three test and three writing assignments ( right time for sex, sexual fantasies, and unanswered questions you may have). Also, if you are a women try not to take what he says seriously, even though the research is there to back it up.
