I only had him for part of the semester (he became unwell so we had a substitute for the rest of the semester). The class itself is extremely easy, just do the readings and follow his guidelines. TBH a little busy work ish BUT take it for him. He is without a doubt the most delightful person you will meet. Also, if you don't like puns, don't bother

I loved Professor Moore! As many have said, he demands a lot as far as writing is concerned but is willing to discuss his critique with you if you have questions.if you don't get an A it's because you didn't learn from him. He's funny and charismatic and makes you love with what he loves. Friendly and easy to talk to! Definitely take his classes!

Very passionate Prof; returns Essays too late to improve for the next. He and an "undisclosed guest" surreptiously evaluated students for a Renaissance scholarship. Gave me the creeps! It caused uneasiness, then I figured it out. The environent negatively impacted my overall performance. Nonetheless, I read, I heard, I learned. An Aeneid-lover

Prof Moore demands a lot from his students, and if you don't deliver, don't expect an A. You must write--and write well!--to expect an A in this class, but he has several docs in his ANGEL account for the course on what he wants you to do. Tip: Take notes on people's responses to syllabus questions; that's the exam. Don't use Sparknotes! Read!

Professor Moore is passionate and knows his subject but, unfortunately, he plays games as if students were part of some Greek tragedy-like experiment. Professional writing skills required for A. He takes away from his course by returning multiple papers too late to benefit from his illegible marks to improve the grade. He IS arrogant.

Prof. Moore was an EXCELLENT professor. Lots of opportunities to lift up your grade, interesting classes, and a fair attendance policy - you can only miss four, but he will not ask about why you missed class as long as you keep it under that.

i took a renaissance poets seminar, classics, and milton with Dr. Moore. He is, undoubtedly, the most gifted teacher i've ever encountered. i appreciated his approach ("I'm just an old-fashioned New Critic."), and i was astonished by how effectively he used close reading to summon up the richness and vitality of the western canon.

ehh.. he's ok. handwriting is impossible to read. I was bored a lot in this class, even though I love Shakespeare. Wish we focused more on the language and symbols of the plays rather than debate moral dillemas for hours on end.

I had Professor Moore for my seminar, a Milton class, Comlit 1h and now for a senior level Shakespeare course. I love Professor Moore to death. Not only are his classes interesting and fun, he has helped me to become a better student overall and encouraged when no one else would. He is my my mentor.

I can't believe someone thinks John Moore is arrogant. He is an unequivocally great professor--he has an amazing passion for the material and genuinely cares about students. It will be a sad day for Penn State when he retires.
