Dr. Graef was a very good math teacher, as long as you pay attention in class and do the homework you will be fine. He is willing to work with you just go ask him if you don't understand something.

Pls do not take this teacher if you have to take college algebra. He is very hard to hear in class cause he refuses to wear a mic so if you decide to take his class, sit towards the front. Also is rude to students asking questions

This man is a bad lecturer. However, there was an instance where the new department head had created an exam that nearly failed all the students. She refused to curve. Dr. Graef argued and got the students a curve so that we could survive. My math career could have been ended there had he not saved it. He has great character. Talk to him.

Only made an A in this class because I was already good at math. Lots of homework, attendance matters. Graef can be rude at times and definitely not tech savvy which can be annoying. I'd suggest taking another professor if you actually want to learn.

His teaching style is very spotty, sometimes he makes mistakes and tries to blame the students for not catching them. Also he is hard of hearing so you have to repeat yourself multiple times in order for him to hear you. On top of all of that he is not very technology savvy. If you can avoid him, and take another professor.

If I could give out any advice for those taking Math 1010, DO NOT take this man. Id much rather hang from my toenails from a ceiling fan. This man never explains why he gets the answer and 95% of time you cant see him work the problem. He is by far the worst teacher I have had in my life. He makes awful jokes and mumbles to himself all class.

Graef is a grumpy man that refuses to uses a microphone for his lecture hall class. Hes boring to listen to, and he has annoying catch phrases he relentlessly repeats. A piece of me dies every time I walk into this classroom. His tests include multiple choice questions that are WORTH FOUR POINTS EACH so your grade can tank very fast.

His algebra lecture class is in a really big lecture hall and he refuses to use a microphone so you can't really hear him unless you sit in the first three rows. It was a refresher course for me so I found it really easy. There is definitely a lot of hw and he won't really tell you about it so you have to keep refreshing the Pearson site.

Try to sit near the front of the room. He is extremely hard to hear, and he does not make it a point to speak louder.

I went to all but like three classes and I still didn't learn too much. Its all review but he doesn't explain things very well. Very intimidating to approach and snaps a students. Not very technological so its a task trying to keep up in his class. Definitely don't sit in the back of a big lecture hall, he does not speak loud enough.

The class should not be hard but is difficult if you try to learn from his lecture. Had to teach myself everything. You cannot hear him if you sit in the back. Do the homework to keep up grades.

Graef is a sweet, caring man who does want to see students succeed. That being said, he is in his 70s and struggles to keep up with technology used in the course. He is very difficult to hear in the auditorium, let alone read the writing projected on the screen. All algebra classes are the same, but I would suggest taking a different professor.

The concept of the class was easy, but Professor Graef's lectures were not helpful at all. I often found myself teaching myself or seeking help from others. Attendance is mandatory but you do have 3 excused absences. Go to class to get the clicker points though, it'll help your grade. If you can, take another teacher.

Worst teacher by far at UTC. I have taken many math classes and he is horrible. His writing his horrible and almost unable to read, he works irrelevant problems, makes multiple mistakes during a class and then says it's the classes fault for not catching his mistake, even though he is teaching us! Do not take him if you can help it!

One of the worst teachers I have ever had in my life. I missed class one time the entire semester, took notes for the most part, did the homework, and still struggled mightily in the class. DO not take this professor. He is not nice, very tough grader, and tests are very difficult. Constantly makes mistakes on his lecture notes as well.

Super easy A. If you take notes, and do the homework, you'll do great. I usually wouldn't even pay attention in class and would just have the homework website help me along with the example problems and such (but I was already pretty good at algebra). Got an A on every exam. Recitation is helpful too. Good at teaching and easy to follow
