Professor is really nice BUT the class is very test heavy. He will say something will be on the test (about a lot of things) and they are not on it. so just know literally everything and anything. I asked for help and did not get it. Be prepared to find a tutor or figure out yourself. get the book.

No homework. Drops lowest test grade. Doesnt explain anything he is doing. Just writes things on the board for you to copy. I dropped after the second exam because I understood nothing.

4 tests and a final make up the grade in this class, with the lowest test being dropped. Save your time and instead study for the test by practicing the problems on the sample tests he uploads on Blackboard, as the actual test problems are very similar. Not a great lecturer, gets off track and says something weird at least once each lecture.

This class is hard. Dr. Walters is funny, which makes the lectures more bearable. There are 3 tests and 4 quizzes that count as one test, and one is dropped and then there's the final. All of the questions come directly from the homework. Memorize the HW and try to UNDERSTAND the material!! In hindsight, he does tend to choose the easier questions.

Absolutely one of the best professors I have ever had. Does a great job of explaining the material does so in an entertaining way. One of the rare guys who knows his stuff and is funny. Graded by only four tests and the final but a test is dropped. Can't say enough good things about this guy.

Dr. Walters worked examples in class, but he didn't always explain what he was doing. He assigned homework but didn't collect it. Tests consisted of problems and true/false questions. Problems were similar to in-class examples, but to answer the true/false correctly you really need to understand the material, which requires lots of studying.

Dr. Walters is definitely a funny professor who loves what he does and his excitement helps get you through a class you might not normally enjoy. He drops a test, which is really nice, and his tests aren't that terrible when it comes to it. Differential equations is no easy subject, but he dumbed it down a lot and made it much easier.

I'm a math major and have gotten A's in calc 3 and every other math class I have taken at UTC. However, this class destroyed me. I went to every class and studied for hours. None of it paid off. I made some silly mistakes on the first test, but his grading is unforgiving. In the syllabus, he says "I don't care about trying, I care about doing".

I had 2 years of math and a 3.8 GPA when I entered this course. I didn't expect this course to be easy, but I also didn't expect it to be impossible. He doesn't give good lectures, and although the first test might be easy, the rest of his tests are extremely hard. He doesn't give a lot of partial credit, and that really kills your grade.

I took him fall of 2015 for Calculus with analytic geometry. He is AWFUL!!!!! I studied my butt off, I took stacks of notes, I barely missed a class and I failed every single exam. He will work problems in class but most of them won't help for the homework. He'll give sample exams but they're not helpful. Im usually a B student so this isn't normal

Scatterbrained is the one word to describe Walters. Lectures are entirely examples with very little explanation of the process. If you aren't super good at mental algebra, beware as he does not show much of the algebra on the board. The online homework is time-consuming and hardly helps you learn. Good news is he drops the lowest exam.

If you aren't good at math, have no idea what you're doing andor want an easy grade take him. His tests are super easy and he over explains everything. Only downside is he's really boring.

This professor is awful, he is so hard to understand. He never writes anything out, he uses short hand for everything, I don't understand the symbols he uses. Don't take him for linear if you can help it.

Dr. Walters is awesome! He is absolutely hilarious and clearly enjoys math. I absolutely love his class. He's a pretty good teacher, even though he mostly just works examples. Tests are exactly like homework and notes. Take Dr. Walters for Linear Algebra if you can!

Walters is the smartest professor I've ever had, but also the craziest. He has a bit of difficulty understanding your questions, but he earnestly wants to help you. I'd highly recommend him; you'll learn more than just math when you're done with the course.

Walters is a bit on the crazy side. He is not very helpful at all, and when he teaches in the lab, it doesn't make much sense at all. You get to have partners on the assignments and the exams are very similar to the study guides, but if no one in your class knows how to do stuff, then your'e in trouble because Walters doesn't explain it well at all

Walters is an intelligent man who knows his mathematics, but when it comes to teach math, he really sucks. He is never really clear about the content; in the end, I had to learn almost everything by working out each problem by myself. He always finds ways to get off on tangents. Try somebody else; someone who can actually teach.
