He made understanding the subject pretty easy. I was interested in the subject to begin with but came out liking it a lot more. He clarified often and gave good examples. You need to read the book to know the stuff though he covers a lot in class. Was only there for part of term but seemed like a good prof- a bit boring if you dislike the subject.

John Young does a good job at making a bland subject interesting. For example, he uses real life examples that are corny to enforce an economic principle. He goes out of his way to put previous notes online at the library for students. His style encourages one to learn on a two front approach: One, learn from the lecture or two, learn from the book

Professor Young is an awesome teacher. He is super smart and a super nice guy. his class is very easy. 80 and above is an A, there are 3 tests and a 2 part final, no homework. I plan on taking both Econ 7 and 8 with him.

Easy going professor. Lectures are flat but he doesn't mind reviewing if you don't understand. Class consists of lecture and exams - no assignments. He grades on a curve, I suggest you study the material he has on reserve at the library.

Professor Young is great and a fun class, but remember on the tests make sure to explain the questions and give examples to explain clarity. Don't just give book definitions. He grades on a curve. He is the easiest of the Econ professors.Come on a 55/100 is a C and 70 is a B and so on and he gives out extra credit. Pretty hard to fail, then you suck

His lectures can be a bit bland and dull since hearing him talk can be a problem. Very monotone, yet he is very knowledgeable in his teaching. If you want an easy A, take someone else. For young, attend class, stay on top of your readings. 3 Exams (one gets dropped) and a final determines your grade. Class is curved.

Pay attention in class and practice on the exams on reserve in the library. The curve is more lenient than any I have ever heard of. He drops the lowest test score and offers extra credit. If you can't pass this class it is your own fault.

This is one of those classes where u don't have to show up and can still pass. His last exam an 80% still got you an A. Lectures are pretty much useless. I've never looked at my notes. Just read the book thoroughly and take the sample test and u should pass. No hw and only 4 exams. hard to stay motivated tho cos he doesn't take attendance.

This teacher is one the most boring teachers i ever had. He's not hard, but i can't understand anything from his lecture. You have to study on your own and teach your self. Go through old tests and through the book. His lecture is not helpful enough. And he doesn't really care for student's grades at all.

John Young is a really good econ teacher. Poor students may not like him. Economics is considered by many to be a dull subject but he tries to make it interesting. All that is required is paying attention. He uses an easy curve and drops a test!! Anyway don't take his class if you have no intellectual curiosity and are generally a whiner.

I was very interested in taking this course; especially, after taking ECO 7. However, the way the class was taught made it very boring. The book was not very interesting. The class should have more student interaction. Tests are rather difficult, but he does provide sample exams as a guide, but they need to be updated. I sense some complacency.

Good teacher, but his lectures are super boring. If you read the chapter before class and engage in his lectures, then you should be fine. If you're looking to breeze thru Econ, this is your man, but BORING BORING BORING! I'd rather take him than Casolari. She sucks!

He is a great professor if you can stay awake. I, and a lot of other people in his class, tried my hardest to keep my eyes somewhat open in his classes, but evetually it would always get the best of me. His tests are hard, but closely related to everything he teaches. Overall, it is a boring class, but if thats your thing, go for it.

One word: Boring. To keep awake in class drink plenty of dark coffee! Prof Young is very soft spoken but can be quite funny at times. Study the tests available in the library and you'll be fine.

This class was a pain. I had to study to get an A in his class. I sat in the front row most of the time and I could not understand him. He whispers when he lectures. He is not very helpful. However, he is very funny. He does not care if you never come to class or you are late. His tests are hard. Not an easy A. But impossible to fail.
