Hes a funny guy who will truly want to help you. In that way hes great, but he is unorganized and his classes feel pointless. You just read and analyze movie reviews when you could be working on the numerous essays he assigns. Dont take this class if youre just looking for simple gen ed. Also make sure you attend class bc he drops people.

I took his class after not being in school for 7 years. He will dedicate much time in office hours if you are struggling which really helps. He is a tough grader but he will help you if you seek him after class.

don't take this class if you think that movie reviews are apart of english you won't learn anything. All you do is write essays and the activities you do in the class don't even go to your grade and good luck getting a grade back up. If you skip class three times or are even late he'll drop you.

He was nice guy but never once asked the class what he could do to make his class better. Sends so many emails per day, which are all sent in caps (annoying!) articles we would review in class wasted a ton of time when we could have been working on essays. He would also move dates back instead of forward which is lame. Its his way or the highway

would not recommend. all we do is read each others papers and analyze dumb articles. he expects us to write super good when we literally don't work on any skills during class. he is obsessed with movies no one has seen. he comes around the class to read essays when we are peer editing and he stands .3in away from your face and is very uncomfortable

I took Prof Jara for English 100 and he was a mediocre teacher. Showing up is necessary because if you skip more than three classes, he drops you. Although the activities you do in class don't even count for a grade. The class mainly consisted of analyzing movies, shows, articles etc and writing essays.

He is a good teacher dont get me wrong , but the homework is a lot and make sure you do it or you will not pass and put your time into it too cuz he grades hard ! office hours are available and DO help your grade as well ! I like how we got to choose what we got to write about opposed to having an assigned topic! 6/10 TBH

DON'T TAKE! Actual worst professor I've ever had. I happen to really love English, but his assignments are unclear & his grading is inconsistent. He tells you the schedule, but then changes the dates of quizzes randomly. Deducts points if you're late or absent. BUT he will work with you if you need extra help/credit & seek him during office hours.

Has a major love for movies, therefore you will be writing about movies for all essays as well as editing movie reviews in class. The class layout is the same every day just editing new movie reviews every day. If you are not a movie fanatic like I am, you will become bored quite easily and find it hard to be motivated for class.
