Professor Mensah is the greatest instructor I have ever had! He is the modern day Indina Jones. Not only does he make the most complex theories comprehensable, he also shares his personal experiences that show you how these theories can be applied in the real world. It is rare to find someone with his credentials to be so approachable.

The best prof I have ever had. He has a clear passion for development studies. He is VERY clear in his explanations. He is a true scholar and York is so luck to have him as faculty. His tests are easy if you take good notes. Presentation and Essay were easy as well. I recommend this prof and class to anyone who can take it!

Awesome prof, just make sure you take down good notes and memorise the little details and you're set (especially acronyms and small definitions). Don't buy the textbook it's useless.

What an incredible professor. Very knowlegeable, encourages class discussion. His tests are 100% lecture based, no need to buy the books! Willing to explain anything at length for a student. He does have an accent, but he is very animated and makes himself quite clear. Very nice, inforamtive and reasonable prof, almost too nice!

This prof rocks! He provides unconditional assistance to his students. A truly nice guy. His book on Black Canadians is the best I've ever seen. I admire his ability to challenge contemporary thinkers. He is too good for Atkinson. He has done more in 5 yrs than some Atkinson profs. in 30 yrs. Thanks Jospeh!

It is really pathetic to see people using this forum to post **** comments. Professor Mensah's accent has nothing to do with his teaching. Please read the guidelines for this site before posting. Mensah encourages students to think independently and to challenge the dominant ideology.

As a transfer student at York, Mensah went out of his way to help me out. He takes interest in all his students and challenges them. IF you get in his class, you're lucky. The person who wrote the communist/socialist crap obviouly didn't take the time to see the type of person he really is.

It took me only the first lecture to realize why this course was so hard to get into. Professor Mensah is a born teacher, and a true gentleman who cares about his students. He will get you thinking in ways you have not done before. I couldn't wait to go to his classes each week.
