Dr. Patten's a lifesaver! He was willing to meet with students in person for this online summer course and answered my questions about the syllabus while also helping me figure out my course schedule. He keeps everyone updated and is ready to go to bat if there are problems with internships. His feedback is thoughtful, but he is a bit disorganized.

Comment:

Dr Patten is a fantastic guy. He is very animated about political science and is very knowledgeable about the content. However, his knowledge of the content makes him a difficult and nit-picky grader. His exams are arduous but easy if you thoroughly prepare and pay attention. Sometimes the workload is unnecessary for the low-level of the course

Comment:

Professor Patten is a talker. Once he starts going, he does not stop until the class is over. I took American National Government, which was a very simple class. However, he talks very fast and flips through slides continuously. Dont bother taking notes, just listen and go back later. Overall great dude.

I took him for his online political science class. He is so caring and truly wants each of his students to get an A. Was always available to talk if you didn't understand something and the course itself required hardly any work!

I took him for his online class just for a free elective and this class and this professor is a great class to take over the summer if you are looking for an easy 3 credits. He is so caring and gives amazing feedback. Great professor he explains everything and does his best to help you so you get an A. Highly recommend he is great guy.

Great guy and professor. He has an outstanding personality with a strong understanding of the material. He gives minimal amount of work. Very easy to talk to with an open door policy. We had Presidential debates in his class which were super fun. Granted, he is usually behind on his ppt's but he doesn,t care as long as we learn. Great mentor

Dr. Patten is hands down the best professor I've ever had. Very easy to talk to and cares about each one of his student. Teaches the lessons well and he is very passionate. Quite a few papers but you know ahead of time and grades fairly. Will always provide help if needed. I hope to take him again.

Professor Patten was awesome. He is very clear on everything and is so passionate about what he's teaching and saying. The tests are tougher than I thought, but he gives good feedback and gives chances to bring up your grade. I would defiantly take him again!

Dr Patten is my least favorite professor in the department, he is unclear with his syllabus, the class seems generally unorganized. The readings are long and often could be summarized in lectures in much clearer terms. Instead Dr Patten has readings and supplements it with things not in the text, which make work very unclear week to week.

Patten is really a great guy, loves what he does and he really knows his stuff. he keeps all of his lectures interesting. well organized class you know exactly when to get stuff done. i would absolutely take patten again and highly recommend him he really cares about your success probably the best professor at monmouth.

Professor Patten was a great professor, I hope to take another one of his classes. He really tries to get to know his students. He has a unique grading system but as long as you put in a decent amount of effort, you're sure to get at least a B. Plus he provides the textbook so it saves a few dollars. Just be sure to read for the midterm and final.

Dr. Patten is by far one of the best professors out there! He really cares about his students and the subject matter. He wants everyone to do well and always finds a way to relate to us, or give inspiration for our future. Taking debate was one of the best decisions I've made. He really makes you think, learn and want to do well to make him proud!

One of the greatest professors I ever had. I took 4 classes with him and he was also my academic advisor. Incredibly kind, caring, enthusiastic, and fair person as well as professor. I owe much of my college success to Dr. Patten's help. 10/10, 5 stars, 2 thumbs up! I love this man.

Doctor Patten is the best professor I ever had as an undergrad. He's the best advisor, debate coach, and teacher any student could ever ask for. He cares about his students like he would his own children, he is incredibly helpful and pushes you to always succeed. I wish I could go back to college just to take him over and over.
