She is very straight forward with what's expected. There are PLENTY of extra credit opportunities that are super easy. She has no hidden agenda. Exams are very straight forward and relatively easy if you attend class on a regular basis and do the course readings. She's funny and very PASSIONATE about her work.

Dr. Sims is a sweet lady. She is extremely intelligent and passionate about the subject. While she can be a bit repetitive, her expectations are crystal clear. You do have to put time into the class, but you'll learn a lot of useful information.

Dr. Sims is very nice! The class is mostly self taught by doing the study guide and reading the text book. The tests are hard & she does not prepare you for them. If you study hard from the sg you will get an A. She is very specific and repeats herself A LOT! Nice person & respectful of students.

Such a shame that an interesting subject where I actually didn't mind reading the book was ruined by an educator. Expect to put a lot of effort into simple assignments and receive a poor grade.

Dr Sims may repeat herself but she gets the message in. She is extremely kind and goes out of her way to help and although sometimes her advice is just read the textbook, at the end of the day you should. Do the study guide and read the textbook and you'll be golden.

The material is interesting enough, and sometimes the lecture topics are pretty interesting. HOWEVER...she is condescending and talks down to you if you aren't a favorite. She repeats herself a lot- I might have appreciated it in elementary school, but find it insulting at this level of education.

Comment:

Research methods with Judy Sims was pretty bad. She is boring, assigns lots of busy work, and we didn't even perform actual research. On top of that, I had great difficulty with her exams. We were tested on material that she didn't even talk about in class. So make sure to read EVERYTHING she assigns in the textbook.

The class is easy enough and it is not difficult to get a good grade. However,she is without a doubt, the dullest, most frustrating person to listen to for 75 minutes. She speaks slowly, repeats herself and spends significant amounts of time on unnecessary topics. She is inflexible and unwilling to assist students in even the most simple matters.

Very nice but kind of oblivious to things sometimes..has her favorites when it comes to grades and is a hard grader on speeches..definitely read the book..taught me a lot but not always the most interesting prof.

Hated her. She treats us like we're 5, and is very repetitive. A lot of what she "teaches" is irrelevant to anything, her nit-picky requirements for outlines and performance are ridiculous, and her lectures are incredibly dull. Do not EVER take this professor!

Dr. Sims is a Comm Professor that does not know how to communicate. Repeats herself in class to no end. She will leave you out of her office, and not invite you in. Extremely rude. Her tests are hard, and cover many things NEVER discussed in class. AND she does not do Evals at the end of the class. in her words, "Her class doesnt need evaluation"

I do NOT recommend taking her! Makes this class SO boring, and I LOVE culture. She literally goes over the syllabus every. single. week. Takes points off exam for NO reason. Speaks so slowly you forget the beginning of her sentence by the time she gets to end. NOT A GOOD COMMUNICATOR.

Sims is a pretty good prof. I had her for an FYE class, so she was extremely helpful both inside and outside of class. Nice person, but can be slightly belittling at times. Tests aren't too bad--she lets you use a notecard. Show up for class and take outlines of the book and you'll do fine.

Dr. Sims is wonderful! I've had her for 300 and 301. Her exams are though but I learned a lot from her lectures because she goes far beyond just repeating what is in the book. Take her and you'll have to work hard but you;ll learn a lot!

Worst professor I've had at this university. She is very arrogant and does not teach anything in class. All we do in class is watch random old videos, listen to guest speakers, and give our own presentations. The only thing I've learned this semester is that she's going on sabbatical, she's better than everyone, and the world revolves around Greece

Dr. Sims is wonderful! Reading some of these comments, I can't believe we're talking about the same person. The tests are fairly easy, and she lets you use a notecard on them. The speech assignments are all easy and she gives you example outlines of how things should be laid out. I recommend taking Dr. Sims!
