Comment:

I remember when I first read these reviews, I was scared because I had no knowledge of programming. After taking her class, I feel like I worried for nothing! She gives GREAT feedback (I had online classes). Her grading is NOT late. Her tests are a bit difficult but not something made up? So far, this was my favorite class.

Comment:

Meh.. Took the online class. Not bad, not great. Instructor is good peoples and provided decent learning material, but I found myself learning a lot more on my own through googling and watching videos.

Comment:

She's quite rude and doesn't provide any form of useful feedback to your concerns. It does a not appear like she is knowledgeable in the subject herself. Students are almost entirely self taught through the book you are required to purchase, and study from there. All of her assignments are self written and horribly written, to confuse students.

Comment:

Not a bad person overall just a poor way of doing grades, making her own questions that never make sense, tests weighted heavy, and corrects you when wrong in a bad manner. Does do openbook quizzes and tests however, most of the answers are never findable.

Karen is an amazing professor. She has a friendly, approachable teaching style and you can tell she cares about her students. She's a great professor!

So disappointed with this professor. Nothing is graded in a timely manner, work for the week is not sent out on time, there is no teaching in the course I'm kinda just finding my way through it on my own (more so than in other web courses).

I am in the middle of an online course with this professor, and it seems that the class falls to the wayside. We don't see the professor, so the only way to know if we're doing well is by graded assignments. Of the few that have been submitted, each have taken a week+ to be graded, which is not helpful in terms of knowing if I'm doing well or not.

Took her introduction to computers class. I feel like I got a lot out of it, and I really liked how she did "hybrid" days where we could do our work from home. We really only showed up to class once a week for a lecture and the we would always end up leaving early. She's very caring & a good professor in my opinion.

Easy computer class, 100% of the work is done online so class is usually 30min of talking + doing your work. I left early almost every class, very easy stuff. If you want to learn alot about word, PP, excel, she is good, if you just want credit this class is just as good. $136.00 textbook MANDATORY.

She is a nice teacher, but this lady is all over the place don't even try to follow her in the book there is no point. Not much homework in this class just a few assignments, a couple tests and we had a group project that she keep changing throughout the whole thing.

Assignments are poorly worded. She would often take points off if, for example, your range was off on a specific assignment. Where as she meant 0-9, I used 1-10, but due to poor wording she refused to give me the points. Her tests were open book, so that is a plus, but the tests were also poorly worded, leaving you feeling cheated out of a grade.

Awful. She wrote her own exams and the questions made no sense half the time. She often had to give everyone extra points because she admitted her questions were poorly worded. The class itself is useless if you want to learn to program. Pick up a Python 101 book and teach yourself. I promise this class is a WASTE.

Comment:

Professor Allen was a very nice and educated teacher. Programming Concepts was a very hard class though. You have to work very hard, but it's imperative to maintain a good relationship with her. The material is too difficult to get through on your own. Overall, a very pleasant experience!

I don't see why anybody is complaining about her. She's one of the nicest professors on campus and was so understanding when I had disability-related difficulties...feel sorry for her because I ended up pulling my tooth out in the middle of one of her classes.

Loved this Professor. Very excited about the class. Can go off in another direction but bring it home. If you show up and do assignments and study you will get an A. If you don't then you may not.She is funny and fun.

I took the online intro to computer class with her and it's not so much that it's hard but the amount of work is ridiculous. I have never had a class(even 3 week online classes!) with so much work due constantly. Also, she makes what is due each week sooo confusing by putting it in 2 different posts and then using blackboard AND myitlab.
