Comment:

Lectures are online, most work is made to be done OUTSIDE of class so in class the material learned is put to use. An assignment is due each class meeting. Online quizzes weekly. Will provide extra help if asked. Attendance mandatory, lots of in class assignments. Interesting class Kary is a GREAT professor, definitely recommend! Not for lazy stus.

Comment:

He gives you every assignment breakdown/quiz/extra credit opportunity at the very beginning of the semester so that there aren't any surprises. Class is fun and laid back but there is always an in-class group assignment so attendance is necessary! He sets you up to succeed. It is a tough subject, but he makes it worthwhile and interesting.

Comment:

David Kary definitely gives you the chance to receive an A in this class. It's all on you to do the work and ask questions.. Showing up to class is critical for points on in-class assignments and participation. Quizzes straight from the lectures. Allows you to make up some assignments for credit, and gives LOTS of extra credit opportunities.

As long as you do your part, you'll be fine. Don't be hesitant on asking for help, or else you'll regret it by finals week. He's a great professor! You have to have some sort of interest in the subject or else you won't enjoy the class. Overall I enjoyed the class and would take him again!

This class was great. Professor Kary pushes you to solve problems you may have not attempted before, but he gives you the foundation to make it doable. He uses a flipped format which means you listen to the lectures at home online and you discuss it in class. There is a LOT of group work, so be wary of that. I would definitely recommend taking it.

This is not an easy subject. It is easy to get an A in if you go to all the lectures and labs. Take the time to do the homework and talk to Kary if you need help. All you need for an A in the class is 85%, yet i finished the semester with over 100% with the extra credit.

This class takes a lot of studying to understand the material. The homework assignments take a while to do but they really really help for the tests! If you don't understand, just email him! Really helpful! This class is not easy, just takes a lot of studying to do! I received an A in the class :)

Took this online and Kary was super helpful when you needed it. There was a sufficient amount of homework so there was always something to do but you could work ahead if you wanted. It definitely got me more interested in planetary astronomy. There were different types of notes which helped alot and loved.

Great Class! I took it online, which is much harder and still got an A. (I didnt even know how many planets there were in our solar system before class started). It requires alot of work but ALL his assignments prepare you for it. Just do the work. He's very organized and grades tests and HW within days. Responds to e-mail same day. Overall GREAT!

Comment:

Took Professor Kary online and found his course to be very interesting. Not hard but kind of a lot of assignments but all are relatively easy. if you do assignments tests are easy. He is very helpful if you have questions and is easy to get a hold of and writes helpful comments on homework. I learned a lot, I recommend!

This is not the class for anyone who is not an astr major. Prof Kary assigns many assignments only to give you 10/60 when they are complete. His grading is completely unfair and will FAIL you even if you have completed every assignment. If you do chose astr choose another prof who does not make up "mystery solar systems" and expects you to get it.

This is NOT an easy A at all, expect to put a lot of time and reading into this class. There are weekly quizzes, the homework packets take about 3 hours to complete, and there are online assignments that are simple but time consuming. But professor Kary is very helpful and knows what hes talking about.

I am assuming we are talkig about David Kary. I took his Honors Planetary Pstronomy course and revieved an A in his class, about 94% or so, even though only the minimum for an A was 80%, so I do know what I'm talking about. His class is rigorous, so it isn't for those who want to fool around. You MUST read the text and study. You have been warned.

He was great, very helpful if you would take the time to ask questions he was there to answer. He knows this stuff wasn't common knowledge and gave us a chance, but the homework was challenging, but if you did it the tests and final would be a breeze.

Really tough class. Mr. Kary makes you work in this class. Could be boring at times, but he is a pretty good teacher and is very helpful. i would recommend him if you're into the subject, but don't take this class if you're looking to just add a random class. everything is from the book, and lecture notes. although i barely passed with a C, i did l

Really great guy; helpful, responsive, and an enthusiastic prof. The online class does have a lot of work, but no more than other physical science courses. A lot of people make the mistake of assuming astronomy is easy-it's not. But this class isn't too difficult. Do the reading and stay on top of homework and you'll do fine.

I only missed one assignment and I studied and asked questions weekly but I still didnt pass. The prof. is understanding, but if u dont understand the subject good luck- u will not pass! The class was a little hard but Mr. Kary was always there to help out and was always very prompt with e-mail responses. As far as the hw, if you just attempt it he'll still give you credit. For class work, just show up and listen.
