Kate is very passionate about her lectures, they can be kind of boring but she tries her best. The testes are pretty easy and the papers are a breeze. Just put time in and it will pay off.

Comment:

Kate Lang is a good professor who is obviously passionate about her subject. He lectures are interesting and helpful, however they don't cover everything that is on the tests. Be prepared to do a lot of reading. The worst part of the class would be having the write group essays but she is a pretty easy grader so it wasn't too bad.

Comment:

Probably the easiest grader I've had so far in college (I'm a sophomore). She dropped an exam, 3 of our 6 quizzes, and 1 of our 4 papers (each ones worth 2.5 exams). All in all, if you need to bump up your GPA and don't really wanna try, give her a shot. If your trying to learn, look elsewhere, when you meet her, personally, she wont help.

The only way you will get a good grade in this class is if you read the textbook cover to cover. The tests are easy as long as you read but just showing up to class is not enough to pass because all she does in class is show video clips that aren't related to what's on the test. She also assigns group papers which are annoying.

Going to class is hardly necessary. All she does is a powerpoint overview of the chapter you were suppose to read the night before. As long as you read the textbook and do learn smart this class will be easy. But she is laid back and friendly

Boring class, the spectrum is a bit too broad for my liking but she makes an effort to engage an entire lecture hall. Read the chapters, do the learnsmart if you want to do well on the tests. Attendance isn't monitored but it can help clarify things if you go. Papers are easy.

Loves history and teaches it with enthusiasm. You'll do A LOT of textbook reading every week and have 10 pt. quizzes on it, but you'll do fine if you actually do the readings and maybe take a few notes.

Her class was very boring but it was pretty easy. The only thing I didn't like about her class was the iclicker quizzes but she drops your 2 lowest scores. The papers were easy and the tests are all multiple choice. To get a good grade all you need to do is read the textbook and do learnsmart on connect and you will be guaranteed an A or B.

Holy crap. She knew EVERYTHING about what she was teaching during this course. Never had any questions on what was going on because she went into incredible detail about everything. But if I did need help she was only an email away and loves helping her students. Read the book and you'll do fine

Nice professor, makes the class interesting. The only problem I had with it was it was full of teaching majors who thought it was useless, so in my opinion, it shouldn't be required for those majors. If you have a question for her, EMAIL her, don't ask in person. Read the texts, because of quizzes. Does group work. Otherwise, alright professor.

Oh my god the worst history teacher that I have ever had. She doesn't explain things to you at all, and she tells you to look on the syllabus but nothing is on there. I advise you to NOT take this teacher for a 288 class. Worst teacher EVER!!

Grr. Has high expectations but won't TELL US WHAT THEY ARE! No great loss except she docks points for not meeting her (unspoken) length requirements. She's not helpful, dismissive, rude, and makes no time to actually help a senior write a decent paper!

Absolutely amazing teacher. One of the smartest people you will ever meet, and she can actually communicate. Going to class = B, paying halfway good attention = A. Even if you don't like history, she makes it interesting.

you get out of it what you put into it. read the book, cause that's what matters. she does a good job of filling in things the book misses. she does play favorites though, so answer questions on the first couple days of class.

She is a really cool teacher, I was not interested in History of Muslim but I had to take it. She really makes it easy for you to get an A but you still learn things and want to come to class. Usually get out early too!

Too much busy work! You will spend more time in this class than some of your other classes put together b/c of all the reading. She has no understanding that we have other classes as well. Writing papers, taking quizzes, group project...yuck. Very picky when grading papers. Don't take unless your a history major.

Great teacher! She's very nice and helpful, she really wants you to succeed. As long as you read and then skim over all the material again before the tests, you'll do fine.
