Her classes involve a lot of work and she expects real effort out of her students; but, as someone who has taken several of her classes, I can guarantee none of her work is useless or anything above your level (and if it is, she's really understanding and helpful). You come out of the class feeling like you've really learned something valuable.

I found her class disgusting and unbearably smug. She acts like everything she tells you is blowing your mind, and when other students play into this (because students at Purchase will), you'll want to throw up all over the place. You'll also write over 40 pages in repetitive assignments- she thinks her class is the most important one at school.

Kathy is amazing and that's all there is to it. She cares about her students like no other professor I've come across, and she's brilliant. If you put in the effort, you will get so much out of any class she teaches. She's a professor of pedagogy (teaching) too, so she knows what she's doing. Let her help you and you will not regret it!

Kathy is one of the most incredible women I have ever met. Her devotion to her students is unmatched by any other faculty member I have had at this school. Please stay away from this woman. I had the misfortune to have her for College Writing and she gave an insane amount of essays(w/many drafts) tht classes didnt help us with writing them. I dont even know what we did in class, it was all one mind numbing, terrible blur. She is such an annoying woman. She seems to think more workload=learning. Wrong

A wonderfully engaging professor that knows her stuff. She really gives a lot to her class and if you put in the effort, she'll reciprocate 1000%. The only caveat being that she isn't always clear, but is extremely helpful if you get lost or stumped.

Kathy cares about her students and her class SO MUCH. She is extremely supportive and engaging. She wants you to do well. There is an intensive amount of work for the class, but her classes are well worth it. You learn so much and become such a better writer. Before you leave Purchase, you need to take a class with Prof. McCormick!!!!!

She is a great professor! She really enjoys and is knowledgeable about what she teaches, and she made me like the class. She was extremely helpful on the final paper, and I ended up with a better grade than what I thought I would get because of it. If you have a chance to take a class with her, take it.

She grades really hard, her instructions are incomprehensible, and if you don't do exactly what she wants she'll grade you harshly for it. Very passive aggressive. She'll tell you to, for example, create your own thesis but then will mold it into what she thinks would be a good thesis. She's a good person though and does care about her students.

She's very helpful especially if she's your advisor. She also is very interested in the ideas you have and the process of writing. Generally the idea of the paper you write for her is more important than the content and this may ake a coulple drafts. But overall she's a very nice and vVERY HELPFUL woman.

Unlike some of the others, I do NOT her. Annoying as hell! She assigns too much work, she's too perky, excitable, eccentric, shrill, nitpicky, full of herself, and goes off on tangents about her son, her parents, her hatred of Bush. But she thinks she's a great sage enlightening the youth of America! Her classes are real brainwashing chop shops.
