It almost hurts me to write this because he's such a great person outside of class. In class, he's too serious. No talking or laughing without him breathing down your neck and asking why you decided to talk in class. No sense of enjoyment in learning the language. He doesn't hide his expressions. Felt like I was with another bad high school teacher

Hes very strict with attendance, youre supposed to have 3 unexcused absences without it affecting your grade, regardless of that he will still deduct points on any amount of missed days. The homework is very time consuming and some of the homework is unrelated to the material.

I can't believe how many people were cruel on this site to Prof Ray! This is why I try not to go by these "rating" sites. I am taking him this semester for Spanish I, and he is very helpful. His tests are EXTREMELY fair. He definitely makes you work for your grade, and once you get to know him is a really nice guy. He just doesn't like slackers!

While it was a Spanish class he would often ramble in a mix of English, Spanish and French. He would go off topic and teach us things that weren't involved in the course. He will say "And I'm not trying to be funny" half a million times. You will lose 5pts attendance even if you go to class every time.

This class was half online half in the classroom. I felt as if this was two classes. 15% grade is online work. 15% grade was attendance. 70% testes in class. He gives you to much online homework. He puts you in a groups to work with people but everyone is in different spots on the online stuff so everyone is lost constantly. Worst teacher ever.

Tough grader, and strict policies. Instructions were always unclear to me, but when I asked for clarification he degraded/belittled me. Other students say the same, so the disrespect is a pattern. He is intelligent, but unfortunately has anger issues and is extremely hard to work with.

I do not reccomend this class online. It is extremely difficult and time consuming, I spend 3+ hours every night doing homework and I still didn't pass. The final was worth 40% of the final grade and it was extremely challenging. I am sure that in a face-to-face class he is a much better professor but I would not recommend him for online classes.

Mr. Cornelius was very helpful. Yes you had to do your work to earn your grade. He was always willing to assist with any questions I had. He explained areas where I needed the extra help. I think he is very helpful and wants his students to have the passion to learn the language. He is very passionate about teaching and it shows. I enjoyed class.

Ray is a decent guy as in he is willing to explain but only in one way and if you dont understand it he finds nice ways to call you dumb. Also the online course does not have very clear instructions your best to either find help of fellow class mates or simply drag along and hopefully figure it out. The course itself is interesting at times.

Mr. Cornelius is a very knowledgeable teacher. The French 1 class is very fast paced, so if you have never studied French be ready to study for hours. Syllabus is straight forward and the test and quizzes all come directly from the text and material covered in class.

One of the most caring, and helpful teachers at DSC. If you are looking for an easy A, then this class isn't for you. you are going to have a lot of homework, but he doesn't ask more than his gives. Mr. Cornelius honestly cares about his students and French, and attempts to inspire his love for French culture and language. One of the best at DSC

I hope potential French students are reading this because this professor LOVES to fail you. He has a pretentious attitude and you're going to stress yourself with an easy class. He's even tough on the people who already know French. He must be one unhappy person, because he continues to burden his student's paradigms.

He is not fair at all. He doesn't tell you were your weakness are. He wants you to get a tutor but doesn't like the tutor to stear you in the correct way. He will be the perfect person to get if you want a failing grade.

No matter how much you need French, no matter how desperate...DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. You can get get good grades on everything, but if you can't understand his recordings and respond in fluent French on the FIRST week,he fails you. Very stressful. Do not take online, even the best will fail. Even his lecture is horrible, got a C. No winning.

I am fluent in French! Had to withdraw from class. There are 30-50 assignments per week plus 1 discussion and 4 drop box assignments. The 30-50 assignments (lab) are worth 25% of the grade, while the 5 assignments that he actually grades himself are worth 75%. You could get all A's on the 50 assignments and not so well on the 5 and you could fail.

I absolutley loved this professor, I thought he was helpful, witty, and well organized. Just make sure you have good attendance and study a little outside of class. He takes his tests right from in-class notes.

This has to be the worst teacher ever. He expects you to be an expert in speaking the language. His grading system is horrible. He does not follow the syllabus when he gives you his grade. This man takes his teaching duties as his life. When I say the worse language teacher, I mean the WORSE!!!!!!STAY AWAY
