Professor Banner is a great teacher! I took his Intro to the Bible course and I learned so many new things! The tests are extremely easy if you study. I did not do any of the required reading and got 95 and up on all of the tests. The term paper is easy, too. Professor Banner gives each student sources about their topic. TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!

Extremely nice teacher, great guy. Really knows the material and passionate about teaching it. Interesting class as it isn't about religion (theologically) as much as history of the religion. Willing to help and answer questions. 3 tests, all pretty difficult, one research paper which is decently short. Just a genuinely nice guy, take it you can.

I love the way Ken teaches. He knows a lot about the subject and he doesn't mind going off topic if we ask questions that are not 100% related. The atmosphere of the class feels very relaxed and open. I would recommend him for anybody.

Liked Banner but he was horrible at answering emails and expects a lot of his students. Hello I have more stuff to do then take this class. If you like history and religion you should take this class.

Comment:

This guy was extremely nice and helpful. If anyone didn't understand something he would help you understand it. The material was mostly all lecture, so Its easy to see why some people wouldn't like it, but the material was fascinating and his delivery was clear. Ive spoken to him after class about some of the material and he is eager to discuss it.

Banner is very nice but his class is entirely lecture. He will stand there and talk the entire time in his boring voice. Fairly easy class, the only work is weekly discussion posts and one paper due at the end of the semester. the tests are impossibly hard.

Professor Banner was a terrific teacher, and really knows his subject well. He shows a lot of videos of various religious practices that he had videotaped personally, and his tests are based off of his lectures. Exams do have info from textbook, so reading assignments are necessary. A short paper is given, but you pick the topic. Great class!

I really liked this guy. His classes are 100% lecture, but I did not mind because I thought the subject matter was interesting. His tests are fair, as long as you study and read the required material - which a lot of people do not seem to do. Very few assignments in the class. Knows his material well.

Do yourself a favor, take the other guy that teaches Bible. Seriously. This guy just speaks and speaks and speaks at you. Claims he isn't biased. Dude is definitely biased. He either writes on the board (impossible to read) or keeps a word doc open and continually edits it with endless fragments and nonsense bullet point when you try to study.

This guy never ever talks about the reading during class, but the tests are made up basically all about the books. The tests are short answer and fill in the blank and the amount of information you are expected to know is ridiculous! DONT take as a night class! He is so boring. I am a philosophy/religion studies major and I HATE this class!

Nicest Guy! Lots of info and make sure you do the reading, a good portion of the exams are about the readings. He is very understanding if you have something going on and is always there if you need him. As long as you go to a good portion of the classes and do the readings you'll get a good grade. 2 exams, 1 paper.

This guy really knows his stuff. He's very scholarly and professional, and no comment he ever makes would sway you in either direction for or against religion. Highly recommended. Also - Intro to the Bible counts for the literature requirement in gen ed.
