Dr. Untiedt is honestly great. I was so nervous to take him, but the class is really worth it. As long as you read, do your work, and participate, you'll be just fine. He really does care and is really helpful. He definitely knows what he is talking about!

One of the hardest English profs Ive taken at sfa. If you do not like to write them DO NOT take him. He will destroy your GPA if you do not go by every single thing he likes on papers. He does not post grades or homework, some days he has pop quizzes on the reading. They can be in depth or just a question. If you dont like to write then hes a no

The lecture part of the class is fine, the tests are fine. Its the papers, kmn. Go into this class knowing what you're going to write, or else. Have your resume ready. It sucks. You're going to hate this class. Prepare for the suckage. Tip: download Jordan Peterson's essay writing rubric, psy 434. It'll help. Turn in something, even if its awful.

The worst professor at SFA by far. If you miss more than three days you might as well prepare yourself to be dropped a letter grade. Even if you have excused absences, he finds a way to dock your grades. He is very rude and condescending towards his students. If you don't have to take him, I wouldn't take him. He made my last semester the worst.

He's really clear on what's going to be on tests & quizzes, so it's easy to pass them if you somewhat study. He's an extremely tough grader when it comes to essays. I've never had a problem with getting low grades on my papers until this class. Gives 3 days for absences until points are taken away. Gives random challenge questions over reading.

Hated this class. I legit feel like he graded my research paper with a bias. Told me my problem wasn't accurate enough to write a paper over despite my attempts to state the problem and improve the problem. I have made D's on all but two assignments even accommodating what he wanted. If you want to be talked bad about in another class, take him!

Loved this class, but be prepared to put in the effort. Dr. Untiedt will actually give feedback on your essays in order to make you a better writer, but your grade will reflect it. Would definitely take him again.

If you feel like taking a professor that is pompous and arrogant, you should definitely take Untiedt! His responses to my questions make me feel like a child, and wrote incredibly rude comments on my papers, even if I made a high grade. I had to work really hard to make a B in this class. Take someone else if possible! I do not suggest!

To be honest for people who didn't make A's in 131 & 132 this is not the professor to take for 273. He grades with his opinion on how a sentence should be structured even though it may already be correct. He still will mark your paper up with out a care. Lets not mention his grading system.

Decent class, you only to write 4 papers and the first is super easy . The other 3 are response papers and they are pretty simple to write also. Be sure to use proper grammar, and also be sure to read, because he does like to give pop quizzes.

Worst teacher I have ever had and I had made all A's in English until him. Counts off for everything, arrogant, demeaning, even mad when you ask questions if it is not something he deems necessary. When I went to his office, he was eating an apple and said he was not receiving students at that time. He loves the fact that he's a professor.

He is an absolutely amazing teacher! I HATE to read and did not think that I would enjoy the class, but he makes the class fun and exciting. He makes sure that the students understand the material and brings stories to your own level. I never thought I would enjoy a lit class so much! TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!

Detective Fiction: Great class, really interesting. relies on class discussions and likes to let the students lead. no textbook, but lots of short novels (some 300 pages), LOTS of reading! if you love to read, it's great. very interesting - helps a lot if your in creative writing, too. plus, he's pretty hot, lol!

This guy is ridiculous. He writes belittling comments on papers and tells the same stories over and over again, and gives off the most arrogant vibe ever.

Enjoyed this class. He is really in to what he teaches. He gives random reading quizzes(you will have something every single night to read), but he chooses stories/poems/plays that are enjoyable and easy to follow. Attendance counts. Participates in disucssion, do your papers and readings and you'll get an A.

Plays favorites! If you've had him in another class, you're golden. If not, don't expect to be taken seriously and be ready for veiled sarcasm. He's relentlessly picky with commas (if you're a communications major, don't follow AP Style!), so don't worry about overdoing them. Don't take him if you can avoid it (Folklore wasn't that interesting)
