Comment:

She talks a lot and forgets about the assignments that she assigns. She is sensitive to people who interrupt her once in a while. Can't understand her writing when she grades papers and when she writes on the white board. She will eventually stop teaching class and talk about other things not related. Do not take her class.

Why does she have such a low rating? Her class was overall extremely easy and she's very passionate about the topics that she discusses. Her essay formats are different from what I've always learned & she's very particular about how she wants the essays. Quizzes are beyond easy, just do the readings(a lot btw). She's reasonable, I really liked her

I'm currently taking her and I love her class. I was nervous about taking English, but I actually love English after taking her class. The works we read were so interesting and the discussions were terrific. I'm expecting an A+ which I have never gotten in any class. If you do the work and show up to class, you'll do well!

I had her for EWRT 1A and I learned so much. Not only were the texts interesting but I really learned how to write an essay. She was clear with grading and gives you multiple chances to improve with peer editing. She also really cares about student success so she is accessible in her office hours. I want to take all my English classes from her!

Comment:

This is the only class for which I was compelled to write a formal letter to the administration. No point in repeating what other negative reviews have already said. From the perspective of a career professional, this class was a disgrace. Whether you care deeply about your education or not at all, stay away from this class at all costs.

Comment:

I had Prof. Kareemi for 1A and I learned quite a bit. She helps you understand how to write properly formed essays and gives you plenty of opportunity to refine your work through peer editing and office hours. However, you MUST pay attention when she's showing you the proper format to write. She expects you to be precise, but grades fairly.

I had her for 1A and she was great! Not only was she clear about the assignments, but she went over essay drafts with us and taught us how to do an outline and improve on essay writing. If you do the essays on time you can get an A. She also gives you a chance to rewrite your essay. She's awesome!

Not a hard Class at all if you've come from a highschool with AP background. Yes work can come sporadically and a bit inconsistent due to her teaching style but if you do the work you get the A. Expect inconsistencies and if I could do one thing I would have just read all the short stories on time. Doing it all at the end is a pain.

She's really lenient about due dates because she forgets that she assigns things. Easiest way to get an A in her class is to catch onto what she likes (feminist, children, etc) and write about that. Don't argue with her. Tends to talk about herself and everything relating to her. Acts like the world revolves around her. she also sucks at teaching

Unprepared and late for class almost every single day of the week. We once has a take-home quiz which she stated that if we didn't do it, we would fail the class guaranteed, and we didn't even go over it nor turn it in after it was assigned. Easy to pass, but you will not learn a thing from her. Workshops are a requirement for the class. Avoid her!

Most of the class is based around flakey learning and her telling us about the million achievements that she has accomplished. According to her she has taught English to dozens of people, ended racial persecutions of pakis, and is a millionaire. I wish I was joking, probably the worst teacher I have ever. Save yourself and pick someone else.

You have to come to class or you will be dropped from the course (understandable), but she mostly talks about her personal life instead of ENGLISH! Biggest waste of my time. She's a very tough essay grader. If she ever gave us a test about her personal life, I would ace it. Class dropped. Retook it with a professor who actually teaches the subject.

Comment:

Of my 2 years at De Anza, this is the only class I had to withdrawal from. This should speak volume. She is extremely poor in communication and helpfulness, and uses most of the class time to talk about completely irrelevant topics. I've never wanted to leave a class so early before because I felt like I was completely wasting my time being there.

her classes are all discussions unrelated to hw and anything with class. never reminds u of hw so be aware yourself. very lenient on late work, gives alot of opportunities to turn things in. be on top of the readings, dont just sparknote it! pay attention in class when she goes over essay formats. overall boring class; lots of effort needed for A

she is a very nice teacher, very flexible and unfortunately some students take advantage of it. Do your assignment on time and she also let you to rewrite your papers which is a big plus for her. It is an easy and fun class, take it!

Do not join this class!! Even if its the only EWRT 1A class available. There is a reason for it. This teacher does not teach well! She assigns maximum number of essays and journals to be completed from complicated readings.She is extremely biased too. Never replies your emails, her lectures lack clarity.
