VERY TOUGH GRADER!our ratings don't matter bc shes the head of the accounting department. Her exams are atrocious and very hard. the exams are closed notes there are 3. A BIG individual project that was worth 40% of your grade, I've never seen someone grade so bad!!! she lectures and takes attendance daily, homework is almost weekly on connect. GL

She is tough. As head of the accounting department, she does her best to explain the information, but truly tests you on it and does no go easy. There were no cheat sheets the entire year, but she will drop one test grade. I do not like accounting, so this class was not easy for me but if you do the homework, pay attention and study, you will pass.

Take anyone else but her. First test class average was a 63 second test class average is a 61. Does a poor job at teaching then doesnt make it easy on us. The TA mumbles quietly with an accent so hes no help but a good dude. The final project is a excell based project which sucks& DIDNT PASS BACK OUR SECOND TEST TILL A WEEK AFTER THE WITHDRAW DATE

Professor Verma is a good professor. If you aren't willing to stay on top of your (mostly) online homework, then you will not do well. If you're having problems with the material or personal issues in general, go to her office hours and ask specifics and she will respect you for it. Do the 2 hours of work a week outside class and you'll do well

Her class is interesting and the homework is not hard. But when it comes to the exams, they are very difficult and very different from what you practice in class and in the homework. You have to go beyond understanding, because the problems are not easy. Try to talk to her and show that you work hard.

HARD prof; that being said, these comments are unjustified. You are in COLLEGE. You have to work for your grade. Expect studying a lot for exams. However, she does NOT trick her students!! No excuse for receiving under a B. The material is dense, it won't be handed to you. An A is very possible; the question is how much work you put in.

People who willing to learn accounting and keep their Gpa high I'm not gonna recommend this professor. Be honestly in my entire life I haven't meet this kind of professor. She is way to hard and didn't explain well. She is very tough grader and test is way to hard. I believed no one can get above 90. Since I took her class all my Gpa going down.

The score structure is totally a ... Participation weighs 25%. For international students, it is not easy for them to talk much in class. We had much assignments, but they only weigh no more than 15% percent. And she didn't give us PPT. As international students, we needed to focus on taking notes, couldn't follow what she said.

Very smart, and certainly not as horrible as some make her out to be on here. You have to study outside of class people, wake up, ur in college! One thing that irked me though is that i kept asking for extra problems to practice with or SOMETHING and she pretty much refused...so that sucked, you can do well in the class you just have to work hard..

I do not understand the bad reveiws of this professor. Maybe there is a difference between undergrad and grad level courses. I always found her classes to be very interesting! She is an excellent professor, very engaging, extremely intelligent and knowledgable of the subject matter. One of the best professors I've had at UMass.

Professor Verma is tough. Her lectures are all powerpoints and she moves through them fast. If you don't do a lot of work outside class with the readings and problems you will be lost. I completely agree with comments saying she's high strung, which is very offputting. Unless this is the easiest subject ever for you, I'd avoid her.

Mangerial Accounting is a hard subject. If you think you can manage without a lot of help from the professor then take this class. She is "not there to babysit." Attendance is not mandatory but it helps to go so you can do the problems in class. She probably would rather be out shopping for scarves.

This teacher is horrible. Just plain AWFULL. IF SHE DOESNT LIKE WHAT SHE IS TEACHING THEN SHE NEEDS TO HIT THE BRICKS! Not heplfull at all. Doesnt give the solutions, and will not answer direct questions. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS PROFESSOR. I am a B student and this is the first time i will fail a class at UMB.

She is god awful, she is very High Strung and needs to be put in her place. If you do the reading and understand what you are reading than you will do fine but as far as extra help is concerned good luck. I recommend that you seek another financial accounting teacher.
