I did not enjoy his classes. He has some good stuff but nothing that is extraordinary nor inspiring. Most of his classes are discussion based, which can be very distracting and only suitable for extroverts. Teaches what he wants you to think rather than how to think. His favourite question is "what business are you in?".

One word describes him best - "USELESS". Does not reply to emails, barely lectures, puts the class into discussion and does not bother teaching anything. You are better to stay at home and go thru the material yourself. Did not learn anything from his class except that Starbucks at school closes at 9!

Comment:
He is an okay professor at best. The cases in the class are pretty outdated. He makes everything about money and getting VC funding (which is expected from a business school), but he forgets that those concepts may not appeal to some students and does not pay attention to the real strategy and reasoning behind success

If he is your 601 chair, consider it God's way of telling you that you have been bad in your life. Nothing is more frustrating than having this senile old man grade your work... not helpful and definitely not worthy of the title "advisor"... Ruined many 601 experiences... just ask!

Larry is the perfect example of an old business that is hanging by a thread in a new world. He may have once been a strategic mastermind but now he is at best, a broken record regurgitating Porter and other models that can be summed up better on Wikipedia. MBAs: If you don't want to shatter your belief of Schulich as a top b-school, avoid him!

Senile and not worth your expensive MBA dollars... whatever you do, don't take him on as your 601 advisor. He will contradict himself constantly making your group work 10x harder than any others for no reason whatsoever. Schulich needs to clean house...

Worst prof ever, repeats the same anecdotes in every second class, has run out of ideas, arrogant, old school and needs to retire and spare the masses

Thoroughly enjoyed this course. The case discussions were lively and interactive. Grading was fair. Larry made the lectures interesting by relating them to his own experience. Overall, a good course. Recommended.

Very good prof. who has tremendous industry experience. Well rounded discussions of current events tying into the theory/models. Keeps the discussions dynamic and fluid rather than straight out of the text. take SGMT with Larry if you have the chance. You won't regret it.

Excellent knowledge and experience in the field of entrepreneurship. On negative side, he has clear favorite students (1 or 2) in class from day 1. If you are not one of those, you will feel out of place. Any BS from favourites will be a gosel, any good ideas from others BS to him.

Absolutely one of the best prof's at Schulich. Took Entr and New Firm Creation with him in the summer. Guy talks of the real world, for those who think the Prof is not good enough....wake up guys...this is how the real world is out there. I would highly recommend him for Strategy or Entr......guy is a great person and a terrific Prof...

Does not teach strategy. Tells stories, which may or may not have an educational purpose, which may or may not be true, and which may or may not have the correct names and facts. No substantive content. Almost complete waste of time. Likes to tell us there are no right answers, then follow that up with comments about how our answers are wrong.
