Does a competent albeit assembly line/cookie cutter job in teaching an introductory level course. Homework due at every class session, assigned by the Internet at the end of the class day, with no late homework accepted - not always the easiest situation to manage. You will learn at least as much from the textbook and a good study guide.

The class is not a joke, VERY SERIOUS. He explains things clearly and solves as many problems as he can from the book. Homework are hard, usually, but his exams questions are similar to the average and maybe the easy questions of his homework. His way in picking only one random homework problem, out of the 3 or 4 gives, and grading only it is SUCK

Uses a bogus homework system which picks a single problem and grades the entire assignment based on that problem. Ironically, he always picked the problem I got wrong. Never responded to e-mails, very smug, unwilling to take small amounts of time to answer questions during office hours or after class.

Comment:

Awesome professor, perhaps the best at UNCC. No matter what class it is, if Sharpe is teaching it, then take it. Homework isnt too bad as long as you go to class and it is very relevant to the exams. Very laid back and easy going guy and makes class interesting. This is also my second class with Sharpe. I only wish he taught every class.

Comment:

Best professor in the engineering department, wish I could take him for every course. Examples are relevant to tests and homework, and as long as you pay attention and do the homework and ask questions, you should pull an A out easily. This is the second course i've taken with him, he's great, and you can get along as a friend with him

A good teacher that is able to help you with any problem you ask him about. He makes very difficult exams but if you study the homework he gives you should get at least a B if not an A. The homework can get frustrating but its only 10% of your grade.

avoid for statics. sharpe goes over 1 statics problem and expects you to know every variation of this problem. He pulls random problems that he never shows in class. I am a 3.0 average student. I havent made a passing grade on one of his tests, and neither has over 1/2 the class. If you miss one class, you wont understand anything. Take Munday

This guy is good, there are a few times when you need to teach yourself stuff he's a little vauge on, but he will help you in any way. Wants you to succeed, if you do the homework as its assigned you shouldn't do worse than a B on his exams. He works problems in class and teaches that way rather than give you theory and formulas and send you out.

great teacher...just show up for class and try a little and you will have no problem passing this class...
