Don't let her scary syllabus fool you. She doesn't take a lot of crap but she's a teacher that really wants every student to do well and will work with you to do yr best. Also--she's pretty funny!

She was very attentive and gives good feedback if you catch her during office hours. She is one of those professors you have to speak with alone so she doesn't have to seem tough. She has a really funny sense of humor and will make you enjoy the weirdest literature.

Horrible feedback! It is vague and usually consists of a sentence of less. Tons of homework and assignments. Intentionally complicates things so she'll seem like she smarter than she actually is. If you've signed up to take a class with her. Drop it and get another professor. It'll be the best thing you've ever done

Comment:

Dr. Stratyner definitely made students work for their grades, but isn't that how it should be?! The amount of essays due for this class (I took it online) did seem a bit extreme at times but I did learn how to write on a college level. If I ever had a question about the class or the readings, Dr. Stratyner would usually give a prompt response.

Take this if you want ANYTHING to do with English in the future. She's not arrogant, she's just frustrated that people hand her crap essays and expect to pass like in High School. In her class, you're going to learn to write on college level; a critical skill in ANY job department. She's hard, but she'll teach you way more than other teachers.

One test at the end of the year, about 3-4 papers per semester. Gives FANTASTIC feedback. If you need ANYTHING to do with English in the future or just in general, you will attain crucialvital skills. Yeah, she's hard to some people, but that's because smearing crayons on the paper could get an 'A' in High School. Liking English A+.

I took this course online and probably should have taken it in person. It was a hard course--required for my major. I met with the professor a couple of times in her office. She always was willing to help me, whether online or in person. I earned that B. Ask for help if you are having problems.

She is arrogant. Her lecture is based on reading the book to us and she doesn't even look at you when lecturing. Boring.Gives you bad grades even if you do your best.Tones of homework. Good luck !

I really enjoy her class. I was really nervous about taking her, bc i heard such awful things. The hardest thing is the Canterbury Tales, but you can drop a test! I also like the fact that we can drop the final, no matter what we have in the class. I will take her classes again! She is also very funny and curses alot..

Comment:

Hard in all her classes but much much easier in the 400 plus classes. Do not take for english 300 or 201/202 unless she is your only class and you have a lot of time to spare. Yet, she is a wonderful teacher. Her upper level classes are fun and very very interesting.
