You will fail the class, so skip the class. He has his own book and website. He doesn't use Brightspace and an assigned book for a class. He even made in the news for bumping up female grades. Google his name and you will find the full article about it.

He is the worst teacher I've ever had. Please, skip his class and register with the different teacher. You won't pass with a good grade even if you are an A grade student for other classes.

If you want a class that you will be challenged in and you will have to teach yourself a lot then this is the class for you! I was helping teach someone during this class. Quizzes every day. 1 small group project (need more). 2 exams heavily weighted each with 70 questions + written questions. Just make 3 exams... Class is poorly organized.

liu is a smart man, that being said he is just not a good teacher. Over the course of this class I often found myself teaching the material to myself because he moves so fast in his lectures. Once you get into sql just accept that it'll be difficult to follow along. Oh, and don't think about asking him questions because he dosent want to answer.

I had Dr. Liu for many courses. He is the hardest professor I have ever had. He truly cares about the success of his students. He's honest feedback, he gives tough tests, but most importantly he's a great resource of knowledge. I talked to a CIO for over and hour just because we both had him as a professor. Plan on taking his courses again for MBA.

Comment:

Liu is a good professor. He had a very difficult semester, for many reasons I will not list here. Homework is long. It should take 3 hours to complete, but depending on your skill level it can range from 2-5 hours to complete both the homework and the online quiz. However these assignments help IMMENSELY on the exams. Give him a chance.

Lengthy exams that cover every aspect of course material. Gives study guides and you definitely need to have everything down, not just key points. Lectures are helpful for homework and quizzes, tests are made up of homework and quizzes. Using self-made website so it's pretty jank. Nice guy, tough class.

Very knowledgeable professor, however he moves fast and has a heavy Chinese accent making him difficult to understand. He uses is own online course portal (like Springboard, but worse) which is sometimes finicky. Good news is that he uses his own material (no text book) which is fairly easy to read. This is not a class to slack off in!

I had never taken an IS class before this semester and I struggled the first few weeks. Has an accent but understandable if you focus. We didn't use the book (he wrote his own), and the multiple choice questions are really difficult. Review them on ecourse they help a ton on the exams. This class takes time andpushed me to really learn the material

He moves very fast but if you can't type fast you shouldn't be taking IS. He could be a lot worse. Accent but you can understand him. No book required for any of his classes, but attendance is mandatory (10 points for every missed class.) He hates students who constantly raise their hands to ask questions instead of waiting until a break.

This was the hardest class in all of my years of college. His teaching ability was lacking and he became frustrated if anyone asked a question. He also went way too fast in his lectures and did not want to go back if you didn't understand. Professors are there to help and he was not very helpful at all.

Another perfect example of a pure academic without one ounce of teaching ability. He does nothing to involve the class, has very trivial examples with no practical business relevance, and clearly falls short when it comes to real-world business examples. Basically, this was an undergraduate class taught to graduate students. Avoid if you can.

he is one of the hardest teachers ever, he dosnet get enough of demanding, wants a lot of things, explained nothing, didn't use a text or slides just his notes which filled with errors that will seriously confuse you, the problem he is the only one who teaches undergrad MIS courses, i loved my major but hated it because of him.stay away from him.

I would say half the class did not like this guy. He is a very technical guy and is not very acceptable of anything outside of his comfort level. I would not recommend this class at all unless you LOVE typing in programs and every detail about them because thats all this class is.

VERY hard class if you have not had any programming experience. Do the homework and attend every class, as they weigh heavily on your final grade. Be prepared for a difficult semester with this class.
