She jumps right into her topics without explaining anything and assumes you are aware of the steps she's skipping. For teaching an intro class, she really doesn't introduce concepts at all. Youtube and the math centre will be your best friends.

This class was an utter joke. ALL of this material is covered in other classes, and Allyson taught nothing. She would just put notes on an overhead, talk vaguely about them, then make us work in groups. You either knew all the material already, or learned nothing. Either way, she should be ashamed of herself.

Comment:

At the start of the sem, she was a wonderful teacher. Teaching was very clear and understandable. At the end of the sem, she began to rush through material, making it hard to grasp. Tests were very reasonable. Assignments due every other class were fair and she helped when needed. She is overall a good teacher and I would recommend her.

Terrible at explaining concepts, do not take a math class with her unless you're comfortable with having to teach yourself. I also found her to be very rude when asking for help and she would literally laugh in your face.

Comment:

Must attend class even though her notes are full on moodle. Inclass you learn how to solve the equations because she divides them amongst the groups that she forms. The more the better. Basically those are your notes (the examples). Pros: gives part marks, answers all your questions provided you ask for them, gives feedback on tests/quizzes!

Worst teacher I've ever had. She can't teach, everything you learn you must learn on your own. The book is confusing. She gives notes, but her examples are horrible! Going to class is literally the biggest waste of time. She will not help you if you ask, she will try but trust me it won't help. Final is worth half your mark! Brutal brutal brutal!!!

This class has always had a rep of being a lot of work. In Allyson's class not only is it a lot of work but she cant teach math CLEARLY. No problem giving you 0/5 on a test question. When I asked for a 1:1 meeting she referred me to a tutor. Condensed course & she jams way 2 much stuff into the course. Not helpful, 2 many tests, unclear, no support

Awful!!Some comments say she's an easy marker, but not if you're aiming for an A/A+. All questions are out of 5 marks, but there aren't 5 marks to earn. Miss 1 part & loose 2 marks.. She's unclear on what she wants so even if you have the answer right and show how you got it you likely wont get full marks. Do not take!!!

The worst teacher I ever had. She reads of some other teachers pdf and cannot solve half the problems. She laughs when she gets an example wrong and doesn't solve it. Math is a strong subject of mine, yet i was not able to understand what she was teaching. Do not recommend!

She sits at her computer and reads off of a PDF at lightning speed while mumbling. I feel like she is talking to herself. I have to learn on my own, but the text and her notes are horrid. A guy in my class plays WoW all class...

Allyson is not too good of a teacher. She marks quizzes very easy and gives marks even if you have the answer wrong. There are assignments and tests in this class...so there is a lot of effort you have to put in. If you are struggling with Math I do not reccomend Allyson. I slid by with a B- in her class.

Allyson is not a good teacher. There are 6 quizzes, 6 assignments, and one final exam. In class she does not teach mathematical concepts properly. She rushes through her work. You have to learn most of the material yourself. I do not reccomend taking her. She is also disorganised. If you are very good at math then you may take this class.

The easiest teacher i have ever had! you are expected to understand the material yourself because she doesn't explain things well but she marks really EASY! she gives marks for attempting the question, so if you attempt the question with work no way close to what is do be done she gives you a 3 out of 5. No way you can fail her class. i got a A :)

Well, what can i say about Allyson? Nice person, but definitely a bit of a nutball.She gives 6 tests and 6 quizzes throughout the semester and drops your lowest score of each which is fair. Tests are fairly tough but she's a ridiculously easy marker.

shes a bit of a nutcase, but shes super nice. shes marks sooo easy, its not even funny. but the only problem is, shes not the greatest teacher, especially if you're not good at math. you can see that she knows the material, she just cant explain it properly because she skips a lot of steps.

I seriously don't know. I mean I had to take pre cal because I ended up with a C+ in math 12 and was one % away from taking calculus. Ended up at the top of the class with no studying. I barely paid attention in class and was always catching up on my homework. Her tests are very easy. If you bomb one, she'll drop that one for you.
