If you need problems explained step by step, and good notes to study from, do not take this teacher. He expects you to know everything and When you don't understand he makes you feel stupid. His tests are nothing like the notes he gives. He judges people that he doesn't even know and has a bad attitude when people don't understand the problems.

Very hard class. The tests are hard, and he is hard to follow and expects you to know how to do things you have never been taught. He is very paranoid and will rant on about ridiculous things. If he does not like you, he will make it difficult.

I dropped the class. There were six people in the class at midterms, the four that did mediocre work kept quiet got A's. I participated and got stuck with a loser lab partner and I got a C because I "have a bad attitude" which he proceeded to describe as my personality. Previous to that moment I wasn't aware chemistry was a popularity contest.

Do homework. Go to class. Participate. You'll have an A+. Don't ever email him. If you go to his office with a question, have the problem attempted or he won't like you. Don't talk back. Don't sleep in class. (obviously, right?) He is PARANOID that people talk about him, so be careful when you whisper or laugh about something that he's not in on.

I did not care for this professor. He was very confusing, and did not like when I would go to his office for help. He was too lazy to help even though that is what his office hours are for! He has a problem with thinking that his students talk about him. He ran out of class one day and screamed at us. Do not take this class.

He is very hard and sometimes he will make you look like an idiot. I think that is just his personality. He's been teaching over 30 years and he is the only chemistry professor. If you are one of those students that need to see ALL the step use to get the answer, this is not the class for you. It's confusing when he doesnt show all the step.

Mr. Alpay is actually a funny cool dude! You may not know how to take him at first, but he teaches so you understand. I hated Chem before this class! He lectures, he EXPECTS the class to read out of the book. Don't miss ONE class or you will be screwed! His tests are exactly the same problems he goes over in class just study and be there!
