Great professor. Goes down a lot of rabbit holes sometimes but overall definitely taught me something new. He has a great sense of humor and creates a friendly environment that brought the shyness out of me. Papers are easy if you understand and do the readings. Overall a wonderful professor.

3 or 4 tests and no homework. He throws random quizzes for a participation grade, the questions are not related to history though. If you go to every class and take notes on his power points you'll pass. Some of the questions were not on the study guides, so the study guides didn't help out TOO much. Still do them though.

Worst professor I have ever taken. Lectures make you question how he is even still a professor and what the point even is learning the material he teaches. Even my calc II class was bearable. Exams ask the most random questions. Study guides are useless especially when nearly half of the stuff on there is not even what he teaches.

He was a great professor and I never read in his class, but I did take some pretty great notes. With those lecture notes, I was able to get an A on every single test. So it is manageable to get A's on the test without reading. There are EASY pop quizzes that he randomly does when he notices people are ditching. They are super SIMPLE.

Professor Mikhail is one of the more interesting professors I've had. He makes the topic interesting so that you will never become bored during his lectures. I'm really glad I got him for 110A and I wish he taught 110B so I could have him again.

I took it in the summer. 1 in class exam, 1 home essay, 1 in class exam not cumulative. Each exam 30 multiple choices (difficult but curved) and one question. attendance is not mandatory, but it is the easy way to pass the class. Take notes, read the few readings he assigns and you will do great.

Would not take this fool again. Very attention to detail. Provides study guides for exams, but you have to take good notes and pay attention the entire time. If you look at your phone for just a sec or doze off, you'll be lost. I suggest bringing a laptop or something to take notes on, or your hand will fall off.

It's not my best subject so I think he did alright. I wish I had a better understanding, maybe in 110B. I thought I wasn't going to pass but I did. Hahaha. That's all that mattered. Yay!

Listen to lecture, take good notes, study those notes with the study guide and you'll do great. Easy A if you do what I just said. Lecture gets boring but just push through because the tests are verbatim. Pop quizzes happen but are not difficult.

He is a fun professor. He mostly lectures so paying attention is vital. If you really study well for hist tests then it should be fine. Reading the textbook before class won't help as much than after, so just go through the textbook after to fill in notes. The exams are the study guide lecture . He gives interesting quizzes.

The exams are extremely difficult due to the specific details he asks that are only stated within his lectures. If you don't pay attention in class, it will be very difficult to pass the class.

One of my favorite professors. I have taken 4 of his classes. He lectures with a great balance of being scholarly and humorous. His papers require you to actually be a thoughtful and intelligent student. Very helpful and understanding if you talk to him outside of class. Take him if you want to learn a lot and become a better historian.

Extremely knowledgeable. Goes beyond the textbooks and what other people have written, so be prepared to read a lot of First Source documents on pdf. He sometimes moves from topic to topic quickly assuming that you have done the reading, so if you do not plan to read then you will be lost 80% of the time.

Dr. Mikhail is a great professor! He is so knowledgable; you can tell just by what he says. He is also entertaining and has a great self-deprecating humor. I took Roman Empire over the summer and it consisted of 3 essays, participation, and lots of reading (duh!). I highly recommend any course with Dr. Mikhail.

I got really bored in this class because of his monotone voice, but he is a very funny guy and he knows what hes talking about. Exams are a bit hard but just take GOOD NOTES and you should be fine. Exams are curved.

Incredibly smart and funny at times. However, not incredibly specific with instructions for papers aside from: "be brilliant." On top of lack of specificity, he's a very hard grader...which would be fine, if he were specific and up front to begin with. And while a nice guy, he's not incredible approachable. Probably won't take again.

Very nice professor, who keeps his lectures interesting. I was in for a summer session, and he was great... lots of humor, and he had little 'side-facts' which were really interesting (which helped me remember the material). He knows a lot about his subject, take notes, and the exams will be easy. Highly Recommended.

Took History 110a with him. Must write down what he says. His lectures are interesting and I liked his way of teaching except for the fact that he talked a bit fast. His tests are not too hard as long as you pay attention in class and study for 2-3 hours before the test.
