I took this as a 3 hour evening class. His lectures were so interesting that we occasionally would forgo our break. We did not want him to stop! Yes, his tests are all essay. Yes, you have book analyses to complete. Even after 15 years, I would definitely take him again! Great instructors! Totally gets the class involved!

Professor Perez is a surprisingly difficult teacher. His lectures primarily compose of comedic anecdotes from his personal life and very little about the subject matter. I felt that Perez would mark me down for little to no reason. He will also occasionally give the WRONG information. Take another teacher if you are interested in this subject.

this man is a fool... completely clueless. I am a history major and I was so dissapointed in his class. his lectures are horrible.Instead of learning american history, I had to endure stories about his stupid motorcycle adventures and what he ate for lunch that day. I can't believe he's the head of the history dept.! take jane beitscher instead!

he seems like he would be a nice guy outside of the classroom but he just doesnt understand that his class sucks, he will elaborate way too much on a small thing then you have no idea of the big picture. his lectures are fairly useless

Mario Perez is an amazing teacher, fun, and definately knows what he is talking about, a must take teacher for history majors. he is very helpful, if you dont get a good grade it is your own fault, lots of reading but very interesting,I highly suggest this teacher, he's amazing

Horrible teacher; makes you do so much reading; you wont learn much from this class unless you already know history; for intro history class it should not be this confusing and boring; the book writer is also an intellectual that writes with too much verbiage and does not get to the point--not simplistic in writing a intro book, sickening really

Take his class. Yes he can get off topic, but it usually relates to what we are studying. He's a very interesting man. He grades fairly. I go a B, even though I think I deserved a C. He makes History interesting. He is always there to answer questions. And yes he is late more often than not. But overall awesome guy. Easy going and very personable.

perez is a good teacher, i wish there were out there like him. yes, theres LOTS of litature to read, sometimes he doesnt make instructions crystal clear, but all you have to do is ask him to explain it again and he does. he does go off to tangents, sometimes i catch myself nodding off lol, but the info he gives emphasizes what the book goes over.

He went off on weird tangents all the time. Lesson plan was confusing, lectures rarely prepared you for the tests, a ridiculous amount of reading, and when you got marked down on the short answer questions he never explained why. The worst thing about the class was that it went from 7:00-9:50 (pm) and he often kept us there til almost 10:30.
