Dr. Carter is genuinely passionate about planning and it shows in his lectures, he also cares greatly about his students and is quick to make everyone feel welcome. He can get sidetracked often or spend a lot of time talking about the TRACS site, but he does get his point across. If you do the work and pay attention then its not a hard class.

Writing Intensive. Your best bet is to partner up with someone and make a google doc to take the load off. You will need to textbook to answer the 200 question assignments he provides throughout the semester. It's all pretty easy as long as you attend class and pay attention. Don't forget what are the 3 tools planners use? you may see it twice.

Carter is an amazing teacher. Statistics scared me out of my mind but I had a relativity easy time picking up the topics with the way he teaches. He is very passionate and gets off topic a little, but always makes sure the information is thoroughly explained. He gives you all necessary resources in a very straightforward way.

Professor Carter has spent a lot of time at TxST and has a lot of insight that is valuable to soon to be grads. I enjoyed his passion for the class and how he bring in topics that might not initially relate. He does tend go off topic though but always gets the lecture finished. Also he is very willing to help with internships and resumes. Great guy

Professor Carter was a really good professor, he can me rude at times but overall he cares a lot about the subject and his students. He is very tough in some aspects but in others he is laid back. For example he does re-dos on projects. He goes on and on in his lectures and takes up most of the class taking.

Professor Carter cares a lot about your future and really loves his bike and San Marcos, and sometimes that can lead the class very off topic. That being said, he made the class easy to understand and I learned a lot. Very nice guy, but he had a clipboard with all of our student ID pictures on it, which was a little unsettling.

I took the Internship in Geography class with Mr. Carter and it was the defining experience of my college career. Carter is extremely helpful, helped me find the perfect internship (I love doing field work), and gave great feedback whenever I would pop into his office. Great guy. The internship report is slightly arduous but its not too difficult.

Class that doesnt have to be difficult made extraneously difficult. Even though I made a high B last semester. Every day is a beat down when he lectures about being a good student and geographer. I dont recommend him at all. Take ANYONE ELSE teaching it. I appreciate Carter as a person but not as a teacher for this class.

I took research methods with Carter. I felt like I learned more about SUPO and planning than statistics because that is what he blabbered about a majority of the semester. I would not recommend this teacher for any class. Takes attendance so go to class but you'll have to teach yourself the info.

Mr. Carter love what he does and he is very enthusiastic about it. His Quantitative Methods class is not easy and you will have to study to get a good grade. He gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit (6-points to your final grade if you do it all well, more than half a letter grade). He is the internship director for geography.

Professor,Carter! GO TO CLASS!! I never skipped a day and studied every day for his class. His tests are hard but put effort in and you'll come out learning something. He does give a lot of chances for extra credit because you'll need them. He's not too helpful at first & he'll ask you if you've asked another classmate already. STUDY and get an A!

Mr. Carter is very enthusiastic about planning. You actually talk about current planning issues and only a little bit of the history. His lectures are long and if you miss 4 classes he will drop a letter grade. Lots of assignments but only 2 exams. Be on his good side for the whole semester!

I would not have passed this class if I'd had another professor. Carter is extremely loud and strident, and it's basically impossible to avoid listening to him. That's good, because he has a lot of helpful--albeit sort of boring--information. His tests and projects are extremely easy if you follow directions, and the book wasn't even required!

Carter could talk the whole class and less than half actually pertained to the material we were studying. When you would raise your hand it would take him 20 min to get to you. He is hard to follow so I did not understand this class at all. Take someone else

Carter never stayed on the subject of statistics. He would spend most of the class not talking about math and would spend the last 10 min of the class rushing through stats. I would not recommend him.

I've had a couple of classes with Carter. The way he teaches is kind of boring, but he's always willing to answer questions and help clarify anything you don't understand. He also sometimes gets off on a tangent. You can tell he really is passionate about geography though, and he really does want his students to be too.

I struggle with math a lot so this class was difficult from the beginning and his test are extremely hard although he does give you a bunch of extra credit assignments he doesnt make the class interesting and goes off topic a lot. As a person he seems really funny and nice but as a professor for quantative methods I don't recommend him.
