Long and grueling lectures and will leave each class having no clue what the heck you just learned. Write down everything he writes and learn it later. Adds 9% to every test. Grading scale: 4.0, 3.3, 3.0. Can be exempt from last exams depending on grade. 4.0'd the class in a 7 1/2 week summer course. Be prepared to WORK if you want a good grade.

Intimidating initially, but I passed with a A. Lecture is quick; just write down what he puts on the board. No homework! After the 3rd exam he will tell you how many free points you can add to each exam. The lowest you can get on an exam is a 50 (plus free points). You can use formulas on the test. There are tricks to that Ti83 calc...learn them.

Comment:

Great teacher but fly's through lectures. Take good notes, his exams are very similar. I never did the homework only studied his notes. He gives a very large curve at 9pts for every Exam! The class is very material heavy so he only tests two chapters at a time which is nice. Very nice guy, and goes out of his way to help you. Take him!

I liked this man quite a bit. Stats isn't easy or particularly interesting but he teaches the class well. He tells you whats going to be tested, shows you examples then tests you on them the next week. Comes to class ready to teach and is fairly pleasant to listen to. Only problem: grading scale goes from 4.0(A) to 3.3(B+), no 3.7(A-) or 3.5(A/B)

He is a nice guy but not a great teacher. He moves on so fast that I never fully understood a problem. He does give extra points but the class is confusing. I like him as a person but I wouldn't recommend as a teacher.

Hard material. Hard to understand yet goes through every class quickly. Make grades based on curve. 5 quizzes and a final exam. Waives the lowest quiz grade. It's possible to leave the class three classes earlier without taking the last quiz and the final and still get an A if you do well in the prior quizzes.

I had him for 1150 in a 7 1/2 wk class. Moves very fast so if you are a little shaky on Algebra don't take him or a 7 1/2 wk class at all. Gave extra points and you can drop a test (we had 5 total). Do the homework assigned (mine was all odd problems) and tests are based on those questions. Overall he is a good instructor.

The class is long and I always left with my brain hurting. I enjoyed math in H.S. but this stuff was challenging (I didn't read the book before class). He gives curves and if u do well on your 1st 5 tests u can miss the final and maybe even the 6th test. Tests e/ other week and studying takes a week. Teaches fast but will help if u ask.

He goes over the material super quickly and at times it can seem overwhelming. Just take good notes and make sense of them later. Practice, practice, practice at home...both on problems in the book and the problems you did in class (so you can see the steps.) He slows down after exam 3, so hang in there...

Very nice guy, knows his stuff but moves really quickly. Get the book, do your homework & know how to use your calculator! Very test heavy course - a test every other week. He does grade on a curve but that's because it's needed!

Prof Karaim is a phenomenal teacher! He makes sure everyone understands the material before he continues. He teaches us the easiest way to do the equation, very helpful. Can be exempt from final based on grade and gives really big curve. Highly recommended!!

Comment:

What a great professor - made it interesting and was very patient explaining concepts as well as our calculators. In 7.5 weeks it was fast, but not impossible. Tests were every other week (no way you could forget anything that way)! He always let you use a formula sheet - great! If you ever doubted liking this class take it with Mr. Karaim.

Good guy. KNOW HOW TO USE YOUR TI83!!! That is the single most important thing. If you know how to use your calculator and buy the tutor cd's that Triola makes there is know way you will not get an A.

I had no interest in taking this class but turned out to be the only class I could still do a problem in years later. FANTASTIC explainations, so helpful and gets you interested. GREAT GUY and smart breaks it down in an understandable way even tho the subject is difficult TAKE THIS GUY!
