Dr. Snell is passionate about his subject, history. He is enthusiastic & has a great work ethic. He states everything up front. There are no excuses. He expects that you are in class to learn, so participate. He is brilliant, and hot! When he retired, Shepherd lost one of its best. They should coax him back, awesome professor!!!

Dr. Snell is one of the best teachers at Shepherd. So long as you actually do the assigned work and study, you will do fine in his classes. He has great lectures,a great sense of humor, and definitely knows what he is teaching about. If you actually want to learn, he is the Professor for you.

Can't recommend him enough. If you really want to learn AND get a good grade, Snell is the go-to guy. Grade distribution is very fair, the readings are interesting, and he really does care about his students. Plus, the tests are surprisingly easy if you've paid attention. Funny guy, too. Make the effort and participate, and you'll make the A.

It's so simple. Do the reading he assigns, take notes and you will get an A. Don't bother, and expect a bad time. He actually TOLD us the one mid-term question 5 days before the test so we could prepare. Stick with him.

Dr. Snell is a very good and precise instructor, but he really does need to stop micromanaging students and let them find their own ways in life. His job as an adviser is to advise, not dictate. If he can get out of that mindset he would be close to one of the best professors in his department.

There is a tremendous amount to learn in this class, but Dr. Snell breaks it into reasonably equal daily chunks. This is NOT for the casual student, though. Dr. Snell is fanatical about his subject, and expects you to be as well.

Is fairly easy so long as you do your assignments, though it's very work intensive as well and not for those of you who want to just blow off a class. Takes his job very seriously but does care about student progress as well. Can be a bit of a perfectionist at times so make sure you got the extra 5 miles in his class, as just one mile won't cut it

I got a B in the course easily. Dr Snell lets us write our essay questions a week before the exam and tells us what to include in the answer. So how can the questions be vague? All of his quizzes are the exact homework questions he assigns the week before and the quizzes are open notes! He can be a wise guy but I?ve never known him to be rude.

Worst professor I have ever had. I usurally dont write comments but he was terrible and VERY rude! His tests are essays that are too wide in subject matter and very vague but he expects very exact answers even though his questions are unclear.

Mark can be scary at first and also a smart ellic at times but he is very smart and knowledgeable on everything. His bite is not as bad as his bark. He really does care about his students and what they learn. The class is a lot of work. Slackers will definitely fail. I enjoyed the class.I am seriously taking him again even though I dont need to

Dr. Snell's thorough knowledge of the course material is evident, and his enthusiasm is contagious. This is a course that requires a lot of hard work, but is very rewarding and highly recommended to anyone who wants an intense immersion into this nation's civil war. Don't bet him on anything.
