She is a very sweet teacher! Super nice, approachable and likes to get to know her students by their first names. She grades fair and the course itself is very interesting! The midterm was VERY easy, but expect to memorize some key dates, she also put some questions on the test that you would only know if you attended. All in all, very sweet lady.

Information is very straightforward but can be boring at times and she tends to focus a lot on Mennonites. Movies and guest lecturers were interesting. At times she was unable to answer student questions/inquiries.

Wonderful prof! Really cares about her students. Highly recommend her! The lectures in this class were pointless but interesting since there was no midterm/exam just 3 assignments (1 easy group presentation) and 4 easy multiple choice quizes (5%) based only on reading and movies watched in class. Oh and 10% attendance. Easy A

She is a very straight-forward lecturer yet that can lead to her content being a bit dull. Guest lecturers were plenty and you should show up to them because she does ask questions on her exams about what they talked about. Her TA was a hard marker for citations. Otherwise good class!

I loved this course. I'm not religious and knew little about Mennonites prior to course. Students must have open mind to take this course and not be judgmental if you're not religious. Clear, interesting lectures, helpful TA, good texts and movies. More DE courses from Prof Epp please.

Comment:
Was expecting A LOT more from that class. It has so much potential, but is executed so poorly. I found the focus on Mennonite religion was too frequent and unnecessary. There is so much more that could be explored with this subject. Very little cohesion between what is covered in lectures and what is on exams. Nice lady, wouldn't take another class

I took this course (HIST 247) on campus. It was great. Lots of variance in teaching styles (i.e. lectures, films, discussion, and a few fun field trips). Overall an excellent prof. Very helpful and considerate.

Took this course through DE, but it hooked me so much that I actually drove to Waterloo to see the field trips in person, that she had on the CD. Didn't care about Mennonite History before this class, still don't really, but it was a really, really good. My first ever grade over 90.

I wasn't impressed with the class. There was too much focus on the west and on religion. The class is taught at conrad grebel so I should have known better. Her dad was also a mennonite minister, It was just too much.

Good class. She seems to have a hard time getting people involved in the class though. Lots of reading. Overall though she was helpful and she's good with extensions.
