This class is a lot different than other french classes. During class you read from the text book and work on only pronunciation and flow of the language and it is so helpful. I felt like my french improved a lot. Every week you do recordings for homework which are not too difficult. There is also an oral midterm and final. I highly recommend it.

WONDERFUL prof! Demanding yes but the hard work is definately worthwhile. She is helpful outside of class and loves to stimulate intellectual discussions in class. I enjoyed her teaching style very much

mme prieto is the best! she genuinely cares about helping students improve. i have had her twice and found her to be especially helpful in learning grammar. she might come off as difficult, but she's actually a fairly easy grader and a funny woman. she also offers lots of pronunciation advice, which might irritate some but is really helpful.

I had her for phonetics (pronunciation) and I thought she was amazing! She can hear the slightest errors and knows what each student struggles with. She truly wants everyone to take away a greater understanding of the French language and cares about teaching the subject matter. She definitely is tough though so you have to care to take her classes.

I had her for 201 and 214. She's fantastic. A native Parisian, she's a stickler for pronunciation (thank goodness) and tends to go off on political discussions. I loved her as a teacher though. She will hold it against you if you're not prepared to work and you expect to walk out of her class with an A. No patience for those not up to speed.

I had her twice..She was very difficult and at times hard to talk to. She is VERY intimidating and doesn't like to give good grades. She scares me to death--I'm not taking her in the future!!

Really amazing teacher. Got A- in both classes but I'm a good writer. She loves to teach and I'm currently taking 226 from her too. Obviously I like her. I keep coming back.

Very demanding, but she's an excellent teacher. She's very passionate about her work, which helps to communicate the meaning to you. She is definitely of the opinion that there is a right and a wrong answer to literature, though. Be prepared for random tirades about politics as well.

Brilliant, interesting. Her "tirades" are welcome in today's world of apathy. "Satan with an accent"...you just don't understand. Tant pis. Any student of French is lucky to share any classroom time with her.

Very caring about students in the end, and still remembers minute details about you well after the semester finishes. Just beware of her passionate socio-political tangents and try not to get in the way.

be prepared to have homework every night and you kind of have to do it b/c she randomly calls on students in class for the answer/knows if you come unprepared. lot of emphasis on pronunciation. comes across as insensitive, but helpful outside of class

She was so spiteful to us in class. I remember one day she told us we were too lazy to open a dictionary. It figures that my stalker would like her. I'm still involved in an unoffical spite war against her.

is a native parisian, therefore her rapid fire lectures and socratic method can be daunting at first. lots of pop quizzes and such, but we always have a chance to make corrections for them later. be prepared to work hard but really learn french

VERY hard, but fair. Lectures difficult to follow, but she's extremely helpful if you make the effort to see her during office hours. Seems VERY intimidating at first, but is actually very kind and understanding once you get to know her.
