Comment:

One of the laziest professors that I have had but thankfully there isn't much to learn in this class. He pretty much told us what was going to be on the tests and the final before we took them. If you want to get in his good graces, ask questions in class and go to his office hours. He isn't great but you shouldn't have any problems with him.

Comment:

Banish may not be the most organized teacher in the world, but he makes up for it by being really patient. We spent two weeks on one problem so he knew everyone knew it. He really likes participation in class. He gets a bit grumpy if you just come in and sit like a potato. I have had better teachers, but Banish cares about you as a student.

Comment:

Banish likes to give pop quizzes over the questions in the chapter that he is going over that day sometimes. He does 2 midterms and a final. The midterms come straight from your homework. He does give a lot of homework grades as well. Very concerned about you and your class schedule.

He is laid back and will help you if you come to him. Do be warned he does not prefer using online services (i.e Canvas or blackboard). He won't tell you your grade straight out if you ask, which made some students nervous. Just make an excel sheet to calc. your own grades. Overall great professor, though. He is funny and engages students well.

I've had Dr. B for 197, 198, and 294. He's the most supportive and chillest prof in Chem E. The subject matter of the class is pretty tough and confusing overall, but he will make sure you learn what is needed for the exams. He loves homework and the occasional quiz, so make sure you do the HW it helps your grade tremendously. relaxed grader :)

Very funny and easy going prof. Lectures can sometimes go off on tangents, but gets all the ideas across in class time. Tests can be very tough, but if you do the HW, and go to him outside of class, you may get some critical information or hints of what to expect. Well liked by Chem E majors at UAH.

The tests are very difficult in this class but there are plenty of opportunities to get your grade up with homework and quizzes. He may write things wrong on the board or say something wrong every once in a while, but he's a very smart, approachable guy. Great class!

Banish is a really great professor but he doesn't make his classes easy. The amount of effort you put in is the grade you will recieve. Make sure you go to class and especially his office hours and you'll do fine.

Took this with not having yet completed trig or gen chem 1 and it was real intense. Managed an A- but that was with considerable effort. His exams are insanely difficult. I studied for about 25 hours for one and came out with a 35 on it (the average was a 33).

Dr.B is great! This class is great. Quizzes are 25% of the grade so attendance is important. However, if you have an A in the class before the final, he gives you an A (and you don't have to take the final). The material is tough, but if you attend class you should do fine.

Super helpful and a very nice guy. Class attendance is important b/c of pop quizzes that count 25% of grade. Homework counts 30% which is really helpful. Two exams and the final count only 15% each! If you have an A before the final you don't have to take it and you get an A in the class or if you make an A on the final, he'll give you an A.

Dr. Banish is the most awesome teacher ever! His class was challenging, but manageable if you come to class, participate, and do your homework. He was always nice and willing to help me if I came to his office. His tests are more thinking tests than anything - he's teaching you how to be an engineer, not a skilled laborer.

The only class I have ever failed. His tests literally almost made me cry. He speaks to the students who already understand the material, not to the ones who need to learn it. The problems we were given for homework were nearly impossible if you did not know the material before hand (I didn't.) Brutal teacher, nice guy. Scared me out of engineering
