I took his class in Fall '11 and I gotta say, HE'S REALLY GOOD. I wish SMC kept him instead of letting him go to CSUN. He took the time to help when you got lost while in class (I got lost a lot). In fact thats how I knew FCP more than the "FCPX Hater" teacher I took. If SMC gets him back, I wanna take Premiere Pro/Digi Trk & Integration with him

Amazing stuff! Never expected to learn green screen. Loved the chill vibe- he has an EXCELLENT knowledgebase & is excited to share with people who are also enthusiastic. I got lost a lot; took ET31A with Heaton & was totally unprepared for this advanced class. Also, there's not a lot of structure; not sure why I got a B instead of A, I worked hard!

Comment:

Great teacher, great class. This was a fundamentals but learned a lot more than I thought I would. I now understand how to deal with RED footage, which always confused me. Some of his lessons might be too advanced for some students, but if you pay attention you should be okay.

Had a great time in his class. Learned a lot in 6 weeks. We did 2 commercials that we shot and edited. Wish he was teaching the next class. Highly recommended.

Took both ET31A and ET31B from Eggert. I learned a lot in both classes. He is the only teacher that shows you how to use Color and After Effects in regards to editing. We also shot are own footage in class which was cool. If you are lazy you will not like his classes, but if you are there to learn, than I would recommend him.

Currently taking his Final Cut Pro class. I have already learned more in two weeks, then an entire semester in my previous classes. Working on green screen footage, which is something I always wanted to do. Great teacher, treats us as adults, and doesn't talk down to us. FTW!

Took 31a from M. Eggert a couple years ago. I see the bad comments. He is extremely knowledgeable, but so laid back, you had to know when to ask for help. In 31b this year, he is light years better. He was always expert, but now he is organized and able to pass on this expertise: He's a great professor with a well respected industry blog.

Michael is a nice guy but doesn't seem to interested in teaching. Never took attendance nor followed a syllabus. He did prepare slide shows for each day's lessons but didn't get to actual video editing until halfway through semester. Taught only superficial basics of editing. Seems none of the teachers for FCP are any good.

Didn't know much about video before taking his class. Now I feel pretty comfortable with it. He showed us a ton of stuff, he really knows a lot about it. He made the class fun and informative. Wish he was teaching the part 2 class.

Learned so much in his class. I had no idea what he was talking about in the beginning, but by the end of the semester I feel pretty comfortable with the technology he taught. There is so much to learn, and he knows all of it. Not a class for stupid people. I wish he was teaching the advanced class next semester. Also, he is really funny.

I'd take all my classes with Eggert, if I could. He's a little insensitive (mocking) to those who know little about the digital world (lacks patience), but his breadth of information is amazing. Intelligent, funny, and well informed. Not for those with thin skin, but he exceeds the expertise of all other teachers I've had at SMC. Love this guy!

Taking his video fundamentals class. Learning a lot. Sometimes my brain feels like it might explode, but he keeps the info fun and easy to understand. Will definitely take his advanced class to learn even more. One of the best teachers I have had at SMC.

M.Eggert is like the Wizard of Oz. He plants himself, in a little computer corner, on the stage. Much like the Wizard he comes across as threating rather then helpful.Not all people are meant to teach. Teaching takes patience. Needless to say, would not recommend.

I liked him. I thought he was pretty cool and funny. I didn't know anything about video when I started, and now I feel pretty comfortable with it. I am planning on taking his other advanced class. He really knows his stuff. Haven't heard a question that he didn't know the answer to.
